Nora sleeps for 10-12 hours at night sometimes. She wakes just enough to nurse a bit a couple of times a night. She actually doesn't wake, but just roots around until I get her latched on.
Anyway- it is really rare for her to pee or poop when she is asleep. She will potty while being held, being fed, playing on the floor. But usually when I wake up in the morning and go to change her- her diaper is still completely clean- until she wakes up!
Is this normal? Should she really wait 10-12 hours at night to go potty?
I am glad she isn't waking up a bunch at night to get a new diaper, and even more glad that she isn't just sitting in her own nastiness for 10-12 hours, but I worry about her little bladder.
Today she waited till about 1 to really go and seriously blew out her diaper. I am pretty sure it was not a pleasant experience for her because she wouldn't stop crying even after I changed her. Normally once I change her diaper and maybe feed her a litte she calms right down. We had to have a totall outfit change because she blew through her diaper, through her diaper wrap, and onto her clothes.
Any thoughts are appreciated!

I forget how old your little one is but my Hannah pooped every 9 --- N-I-N-E DAYS! We knew not to plan anything that day. Just stay home and change the baby! She did this until she started solid food at 9 months. She was exclusively breastfed until she was just a little over 9 months. We were traveling to a LLL meeting and I was the driver, the person who sat in the back seat with her...another mom, had some dry cherrios. when Hannah started crying that was all we could do. She didnt know what in the world it was but liked them. That weekend she started eating off my plate and it changed her "habit" all together...once a day from then on!
However having said all that...the not urinating doesnt seem normal to me...I would ask my dr or midwife if I were you.

She wets about 8-20 diapers a day (never fewer than 8 though) it's just when she is sleeping that she won't go. I guess I need to ask the doc when we go in for her booster shots.

It's a joke...sorry! I have been the "go to gal" for years - if anyone within 100 miles has a medical question - they call me. How many times a week I answer the phone and someone on the other end says "is the doctor in?" we also joke that all I need is a prescription pad now! Mostly I know about childhood "doctor" stuff...I guess everyone figures I have 6 I must know a little something! I always say "I am not a real dr, I just play one on TV"

One thing for sure about babies..they are all so different that I don't think there IS a normal, really.

Alee- Nora is just fine, she is wetting enough diapers;) Bella and Jack did the same thing...us lucky mama's with our good sleepers. Jack will go without poopin for a week sometimes- then it is quite an event.

I am glad you guys think Nora is okay. I feel really blessed to have sleep so great- I just didn't want her giving herself a bladder infection from holding it so long.

As long as she is not dehydrated, or doesn't look or act sick I wouldn't worry. Just think how great it will be when she is being potty trained : 0 no wet beds!

I agree what is normal. All mine peed and pooped differently. You could set your clock by Riley. My girls felt like they should surprise me. Maybe Nora's not really nursing at night, just sucking for comfort? Does your milk let down? Just a thought. Congrats on the good sleeping!

Alee: My take on it - since this is a regular occurence, then *yes* it is normal for Nora. If you're concerned, I'd talk to your doc next time you've got an appointment. Otherwise, I don't think it's necessary to make an appointment.
Dry diapers in the a.m. were a sign to me that my boyz were ready to make the move to undies since they could go all night. I can't remember how old Nora is, but if memory recalls she may not old enough yet.

No- I don't think Nora is quite ready for undies yet. She is only 2 1/2 months old. :)
It seems that as soon as I ask for advice on Nora, she changes her habits! The last two mornings she has had wet diapers that woke her up, so I guess maybe she just goes through phases or something. It would be really nice to think my little baby was already learning to wait until morning to go potty, but I am not quite sure she has quite connected those mental dots yet.

Kaylyn- LOL Thats okay! There are some other ladies here that have babes that old!
I think that she probably is mostly nursing a little bit for comfort at night and then just falls back asleep. Sometimes I am soaked in the morning because she didn't drink enough milk. (Sorry if too much information!). She makes up for it when she wakes up though!
