Thank goodness I just discoverd you all. I live on the Point Reyes Peninsula, just steps from Tomales Bay along the Pacific coast--just far enough north of San Francisco to be able to see the Milky Way at night.

The surrounding farms are all dairies (including our own organic dairy, the Strauss Family Dairy), and the bay is one of the precious few natural estuaries clean and pure enough to grow oysters. I live in the little village of Inverness and although I don't have multiple acres, I have raised-bed gardens (my potager) and access to some of the best artisan foods in the state.

I am a stay-at-home writer and working feverishly against a deadline for an upcoming book on oysters. When I need a break, I go and weed the gardens or deadhead the roses. Love to hear from some of you.

Cheers,
Jairemarie

Thanks for the welcome. I'm new to this chat thing, but I like it already! Writing is a solitary occupation.

And yep, we could fall off into the ocean, but I like living "on the edge." There's always a fresh breeze off the ocean and the summers are a perfect 70 degrees . . . that is, when the fog bank stays off shore! Then it gets wicked-cold. On to the next chapter.

Welcome Jairemarie!!
I know of your dairy from when I lived in Calif! (Arroyo Grande) I used to buy quarts of your wonderful milk at a store in SLO. I still have 4 of the bottles that I use for my own goat milk now. I loved reading the Farming on the Edge book also. Your place sounds wonderful. I am glad you are here!!

We bought your milk, too, when we lived in Pasadena. Still use the bottles as home decor. As a part-time writer and aspiring farmgirl, I hope you'll post often. I think I've got a lot to learn from you.
