Hello Ladies, Just a little note to get to know some people. I am a wantabe farm girl. I have always wanted to live on a farm and be off the grid. maybe one day..I will always dream the dream. I grow flowers and am trying to grow some veggies this spring and summer...Since we are going to have a hot one it seems and the summers are longer and longer every year. I can plan for a longer planting season. I am a Grandmother of 2 and one loves to plant things...and she also loves horses. So she will be the perfect farm girl. My husband is so supportive of me and my ideas...I love him dearly... Hope all is well and thanks for reading.

A big warm welcome to you Deborah! You will love it here and you will gain many friends from being a part of MaryJane's Farm! I am also a Grandmother of 10 and my littlest granddaughter Hailey loves wearing an apron each time she comes to visit...which is often! Looking forward to getting to know you and good luck with your garden.

Hugs,
Maryjane Lee

Thanks Ladies....I can already tell this is going to be fun. We had a great Memorial Day weekend. I hope everyone else did...And we are all praying for our sons and husbands across they water from us...They need all our blessings. Well my little redhead had her hands in the dirt on Monday..we put in some tomoatoes and it was great to see her all dirty...She didnt mind it one bit...She said her mommy killed all the plants I put in there house..lol...well it is hard with 4 children, so I can't get to upset...well enough now. I might not get to chat to much. I will check for responses and write when I can. BTW...anyone have a good biscut recipe to share...an easy one please..and if they can rise nice and tall that would be good too...

Thanks again for being so kind ladies

Welcome, Deborah. We're having a hot, dry summer here in Kentucky, too. What kind of flowers do you grow? It's great to have you join us here. :)

Deborah- Have you tried MaryJane's Budget Mix? It is a great value and makes the most amazing biscuits and turn-over crust. It is ultra flexible. You can make anything from traditional biscuits to buttermilk with the same mix! You can also get white or wheat versions.

Or you can do the basic biscuit recipe-
BAKING SODA BISCUITS

2 c. sifted flour
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. buttermilk

Sift together the dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until like coarse meal. Make well in center of flour mixture. Add all the buttermilk at one stir, stir to make soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured board. Knead about 30 seconds. Pat or roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut with 2 inch cutter. Ungreased sheet. Bake 450 for 12 minutes or lightly brown.

You can also substite the buttermilk in this recipe for milk or water. The less you handle the dough the better it is. Also don't rattle the bicuit cutter back and forth when you press out the biscuits because this seals the edge.
