a friend of mine just went to honduras and bought some dyed 100% cotton pillow slip cover...beautiful, but the color rubs off easily..any suggestions as to how to set the dye in the fabric???
Using white vinegar will help set the fabric. You can test it out on a little square to make sure that it will not effect the fabric. I have had wonderful sucess with just plain white vinegar. Use a ratio of 1 part vinegar to to ten parts water. Hope that helps.

There is also a product called Retayne that is used in the wash that will help set the color. If the item was not thoroughly rinsed/washed following the dyeing process, then there is likely extra dye still sitting in the fabric that needs to be removed.
I've learned that it takes as much time and energy to wish as it does to plan.
