Have any of you ladies taken trips to Nashville? Would you have any suggestions on hotels to stay in? My brother has asked me to do some leg work in researching their honeymoon to Nashville so I thought I'd come to you ladies to see if you knew of any nice hotels in the area. Nothing too fancy but some place nice for a honeymoon. I think they're planning to do some sight seeing and touring in the area...maybe take in a show at the Grand Ole Opry. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I was going to suggest the same hotel. I spent a lot of time at that hotel during my childhood. I am pretty sure it's a Gaylord property now though. I've stayed at the Gaylord Palms here in FL on 3 occasions for our state homeschool convention and it's very nice.

I stayed at the Gaylord Opryland this fall and although it was beautiful, I had the worst service EVER!! I made reservations months in advance and when we got there, no room! We had to wait for hours and when we got our room it was really run down. They said they were remodeling but I was so disapointed! I think they could have been better about making it up to us as it just about ruined out trip. If it wasn't for Jan Karon (she was speaking at a womens conference and that was wonderful!) it would have been a real bummer of a trip.

Opryland Hotel is as large as a mall; so if you like going to a huge huge huge mall-sized place that is next to a mall, that will work. It is a self-contained place; pretty much everything you want. Yes, the Grand Old Opry is out there next to it (unless you go in the winter and then the Opry is at the Ryman downtown). Opryland Hotel is not what I'd call inexpensive.

There are some downtown hotels of note, the Hermitage Hotel and Union Station Hotel are the historical type hotels. They'd probably both be interesting for a honeymoon. Music Row isn't too terribly far from Downtown, but tourists are usually pretty underwhelmed by it because it just looks like your standard older homes/small offices part of town.

Hope that helps!
