I am taking an idea from "Botanical Bath" Elizabeth to post our apron creations on one thread so that we can all see how creative we farmgirls are. I will start with an apron I made this morning. This fabric grabbed me and held me hostage until I promised to make an apron with it.....I love it. It is for sale on my etsy, but if it doesn't sell, I will keep it for myself (like I need another Apron!) But then, can you ever really have too many??????
Come on girls.....post your pictures here!
Keep Smiling.....Bev Check out my shoppe at www.honeybeez.etsy.com www.beehavenacres.blogspot.com , www.beehavenmaven.blogspot.com |

Great looking apron, would post pics but i seem to be challenged in that regard and cannot seem to work it out. Love the melons, makes me just want to go have a warm sunny picnic with juice running down my arms and drippin off my elbows. |

I love the watermelons! What a fun apron. I really like how you appliqued the watermelons on the pocket.
It is so dark and overcast today... but I will post my newest 2 later.

This is one I made for a farmgirl friend as a gift. It is one of my favorite aprons that I have made.
Hope this comes through
GOSH...sorry so big, I don't know how to reduce the size. I'll try to reduce it later...gotta run to pick up the girls.

OOOO I love them all! Georgeann, that fabric is gorgeous! I love it!!
I haven't made an apron for awhile. I haven't been in my sewing room for about two weeks I have simply been too busy!
I did pick up a really pretty apron today though while I was out and stopped in at my favorite thrift shop. It appears to be handmade! Pink and pretty and covered in roses. I love it.
I love seeing all fo the aprons you farmgirls make. they are by far my favorite thing to collect. I am now unsure what the number is at...probably closer to one hundred, give or take....let's see some more!!

Aunt George, What a romantic looking apron.
Naomi. those are very nice repurposed aprons... Hmmm, I have been wanting dh to get rid of a few shirts... ok more than a few..
wonder if he will miss them.... wonder if he will ever say "Hmmm, I have a shirt somewhere that would match that."

Oh, ladies, these aprons are marvelous. Aunt George, your apron makes me want to clean my house and my yard and make a wonderful candle lit dinner under my just leafing out grape arbor for just my husband and I. Terrific apron, just gorgeous. Naomi, your aprons are wonderful. I love the neckline on the shirt. Don't you just love repurposing. I love all the detail on the extras of the pillowcase one, too. Simply beautiful!!! Maybe I will get that tutorial soon, Bev. I just walked in to some things I must take care of asap, will have to try again later.
Keep showing your aprons ladies!!!! |

Georgann....Is that one of Mjs apron patterns or is it one that you found? I like it because it covers a lot in front. I made one today and had to cut it fuller than it originally was. I'm so sloppy, I need EVERYTHING covered! VERY pretty!!!! |

Just repurposed a pair of Lee Riveted women's jeans tonight. Here is the result. It is a half apron, but I could easily and probably will add a detachable bib to this one!! The beautiful cowgirl top came from Sarah out in California. This apron would be perfect for an after rodeo BBQ that you are hostessing. You could dance the night away in this one and it will wear like iron. Perfect for the farmgirl in all of us!!! The fabric is new, the pants of course are thrifted!! Hope ya'll like this one. No pattern, just started cutting and sewing!!
I have an etsy site all ready to go, just now inventory yet...this might be my first, but then I do have a farmgirl in mind for this one! LOL. Might have to RAOK this one!! You know I was thinking that that strap on the front might make a perfect towel holder!! LOL Oh, I love to sew aprons, and I LOVE all of the photos of the aprons in this thread. So glad ya'll farmgirls are liking the repurposing of the men's shirts!! The variations are as unlimited as your imaginations!!!
Blessings

Cindy Lee I didn't use a pattern for it. Just made it up to her measurements...I think, but I will double check. I have made so many aprons, sometimes I forget. So glad that you liked it!!

A pillow case too??? Oh wow.. How Pretty!!!!! ok.. this is going to sound a bit morbid.. But it's not really.... alright.. maybe it is.. My grandfathered died when i was 10.. He was probably the most important people in my entire life seems I still compare every man I have ever met to him.. ( i'm almost 47 now..) ANYWAY.. when he became ill.. My grand mother made sure that while he was going to be lying in bed.. he was going to be as comfortable as she could possibly make him.. & she bought the most beautiful.. comfortable sheets I have ever slept on.. still now.. i have never had such soft sheets!.. well.. after he died..& she had to eventually move & sell things.. Some how.. I wound up with one of the flat sheets!! YES.. Weird i know.. But I've always thought that i have to do something with this special sheet!! some of it will have to be used in bits of quilts for my kids.. But i'm thinking an Apron.. I suppose I'm remembering it today because Naomi your little pink one there looks a bit like it.. except his is blue.. I keep it in My PJ drawer.. & pull it out everynow & then.. I wish it still smelled like him.. But of course that smell has long since left me.. Thanks for reminding me of him tonight Naomi! Georgann.. Yours are always just so beautiful..one is always more amazing then the last!! this one takes the blue ribbon though!! What a beautiful color.. doesn't hurt having it over that lovely lace dress either.. does it? I love seeing all the many Aprons!! it's just so much fun for me!

Bev, Naomi & Georgann, You ladies are soooo talented. Georgann, you inspired me with your cast off mens shirt/aprons.... I just finished one today, I made a detatchable button on/off bib & I even used the "Dockers" label as decoration on the pocket. I'll try to post pic's this weekend.

Kathie....Your story is NOT morbid at all!! I love the thought of you wrapped in an apron of memories of your grandfather. I bought the most wonderful mattress pad for my mother so she could be comfortable and it reduced the risk of bedsores for her in her last days. I couldn't bear to throw it out after her passing....my daughter claimed it for her own and she knows that grandma passed away on it, and it is a little link for her to grandma. My goodness those are the ties that bind us to those we love. Oh, and Kathie, do you sew? I twin size sheet would have lots of fabric to do a marvelous apron. I think I remember you saying that you don't sew.
Thanks Grace for the lovely compliments. Oooo I would love to see your repurposed apron...I'm so glad you used the detachable button idea....doesn't that work great????!!!!
Oh, and Sarah and Patricia if you read this thread, your aprons are in the mail....be watching for them!! I hope they get there!!

Kathie: Your story is not morbid, just very sweet. Also, you think my pillowcase apron I made was pretty? you should see the one Aunt George made, a lovely purply one, mom won the drawing for it, its got antique lace, and ruffles...oh my...looks far better then mine! Everyone: Thank you for the complimets on my aprons...I may have more to post this evening if my day goes as planned... Aunt George: I also loved the button off bib for the apron, and did that with the one I made, if I get a chance to update my blog tonight I'll try to get some detail shots so y'all can see...and contrary to the photo it does have a pocket, however, I managed to line it up with the plaid so...it blends in...haha

Aunt George: That Pink apron is EXACTLY what I have in mind for the front of my apron... I can't find any pattern like what I've got in mind though. Most of the aprons I see won't cover my upper-half like I want, and none of them have an H-back. I've finally decided to design my own.
I couldn't find fabric I like... But I do have a LOT of mis-matched sheets! Great ideas gals!
I really gotta get on about making my Momma an apron... It would help protect her clothes when she feeds the animals in the morning.. |

Just came up with a thought using Aunt George's jean apron...
Jean waistband, white skirt, eyelet (or patterned) hem, Jean patch-pockets with applique flowers.... |

Ok, Georgann, guess I will have to make another trip to the G.W. store & look for a pair of jeans on the .99cent rack...gotta try out the jeans apron idea of yours. At the "Giddy-up" put on by Sisters on the Fly, the ladies all received "jeans handbag-totes" I would love to try to make one also. Mary Jane Lee has some pic's, maybe I can get her to post a pic of the handbag. *new pic's of aprons on my blog* tata-4-now
