Well, I got my kit in the mail today and I must say my head is spinning. The directions aren't real clear, but I bought one of the starter kits which I was actually advised not to get because it's harder for beginners. A lady thats been doing it for 35 years told me that. So,,,, I don't know what I'll do. I don't know of anywhere to take lessongs, but I sure would love to. I guess I'll just keep trying. It may get easier as I go along. I know I've read that it's an easy craft once you get the hang of it, but I'm beginning to wonder, lol ~~Blessings, Mikki Jo

Mikki, don't give up! Set the kit asside. You can always come back to it! I took a couple of classes on knitting socks on double pointed kneedles at my local knitting store from a lady who has knitted her whole life. Everyone says it is so hard to knit the socks on double points but because someone showed me as opposed to learning from a book it did not seem too bad. So...maybe an ad in your local shopper or Penny Saver. 'Who knows anyone who can teach Bobbin Lace?' You might be surprised what kind of feedback you get. Also, see if you can find a local needwork guild. I am in one and these ladies just love to share their talent. You probably will only need to sit down one afternoon over tea (of course!) and then when you go back to your kit it will not look quite so intimidating! Make sure you show us your first creation! Angie.

Did you get a torchon kit what type of kit did you get. Torchon is what beginners should have anythings else will drive you nuts. Start out simple making bookmarks and straight torchon. Especially if you are teaching yourself.
have a lovely day and may God bless you and keep you safe my bloghttp://sunshinescreations.vintagethreads.com/ my web store http://vintagethreads.com/ |

Mikki, how are you doing with this?
I was at the thrift store today, and picked up a torchon bobbin lace kit. I blame MaryJane's Stitching book. I laughed and told the gal at the counter I'd end up tying myself in knots. Any of you do this?
