We live in a wooded area where the nettle is plentiful. I've heard it's great for a tincture for allergies, but also recently came across recipes to use it in cp soap. It's supposed to be really good for rashes and eczema. What do you think?

A friend of mine drys the leaves, and uses it in different herbal rememdies. She said once it is dry, it will not "get you" . I was thinking of drying some myself this summer. Just make sure to wear gloves and be careful. Michele |

Eileen Widman was here last summer and pointed out the nettle to me. She had said that once it's picked the sting goes away and that it is used to treat allergies. I may have to pick some to make some soap. It's supposed to be good for skin allergies. Isn't that interesting that a plant that's irritating to your skin actually does the opposite of that when used medicinally?! The soap recipe calls for a cup of nettle leaves infused in hot water and then let cool and blend up in the water to use with the lye. I'll let you know how it turns out!!
Blessings,
Missy

Missy, I heard the same info from an herbalist over this way last summer. I'll be interested to hear how the soap turns out.

Missy,
I would definitely be interested in trying nettle soap for my psoriasis, should you decide to make any.

I have heard about it... but I sat on some nettles once, and never got over it. I know it is safe once they are dried... but... I am still not over it.
