anyone found their sweeet annie peeking through the ground yet?

every other year we get a HUGE crop of it .. but always in such a surprizing place! so far .. i've discovered some between the stones pathway leading to the cabins .. i let it go last year (for awhile) .. and you had to hop, skip and jump around it! i do believe it is my very most favorite nature smell! xo

Frannie,
You sent me a a little bag of sweet annie about a year ago. I just love the stuff, it smelled go good. Been looking for it ever sense. I don't have a good place to grow it so was looking online for it, you know, like I get my lavender online. I still have the bag you sent, its in my entry way.

I love sweet annie too...I am hoping mine comes up (anywhere would be okay with me) again this year. If not I will be searching for plants for sure. I LOVE the smell too!

Sweet Annie is an artemisia. It's a tall, feathery, self-seeding annual. It smells wonderful! It's commonly used in floral wreaths. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=Sweet+Annie&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2

I have tiny seedlings in the greenhouse. I'm going to transplant them on the right side of our pond and let them naturalize.

Where can I get some just for the scent? Is it the seeds or dried? What is it I want?

I can never find it to grow at my house, but my dad's fiance has a lot she says she'll share this year, otherwise I buy it in bunches and wreaths at our farmers market. Nothing smells better and it keeps its scent forever. I always keep some at my front door and some in the back.

Sounds wonderful. I think I need to add it to my "I want" list for my garden. :)

i've never been able to find 'sweet annie' at a 'nursery' .. i was told it is considered a WEED .. and INVASIVE .. i also read on-line that it discourages DEER .. so is good to plant around your garden .. but i've also been told that if a DEER wants your crop bad enough .. not much will deter them!

i've never been able to propogate it from 'seed' .. and it will pop up in the darndest places .. i've had HUGE crops in two toally different spots on our property .. but can't figure out why it doesn't re-seed where there is tons of it one year!

i adore the smell! (when i send dolls via the mail .. i usually put some in the box with them .. what a sweet smell when the box is opened). xo

I bought artemisia at the nursery, but it is the wrong kind. It grows like crazy, but it smells bad and doesn't flower like the "sweet annie". So I am still looking!

Does the Sweet Annie Artemesia have a flower? I have the "silver mound" atremisia, which gets no flowers and smells a bit like bug repellant. Sure would like to find one that smells better!

By any chance is sweet annie the same plant that I've seen referred to in books as wormwood? That's an artemisia too.
