For the next two months I am going to update our extreme clean, and hold this thread for encouragement for any farmgirls struggling to get their "spring" cleaning done. It doesn't have to be "spring" cleaning either. I can be a gigantic pile of unread magazines you can't find time to go through,or that gigantic pile of printed recipes you can't seem to try out.

Anyone want to join in? I don't have farmgirls close enough to form a group of women to go house to house, so I thought I could post here for a positive encouragement for progress with whatever you need finished.

I wrote up my own list for cleaning, and each member of my family gets to pick and choose their jobs.

We have already completed the clean up in the utility room, and porches, but have more to do.

On the list next for me, is cleaning off the outside of the fridge. It's cluttered with coupons, notes, and just plain junk. I'll be back to post when it's done.

Photos are optional.

We are about to successfully finish the goat fencing. This was a very lengthy project. I hope to have more photos after we finish the last two sides (of the goats getting their new space). Yay!

I'm also busy clearing out the vegetable garden.

So yesterday I attacked the refrigerator. Seems we can't seem to keep those leftovers under control! Today I have been working in the pantry. My pantry is huge so it is a challenge. Since my dad moved in we have acquired another chest freezer in there so I have had to figure out what needs to stay and what goes. He brought lots of my mom's dishes and things like her grinder, juicer, carpet steam cleaner, etc. Had to find permanent homes for it. Today I cleaned in there and mopped and straightened things out. I can't stand clutter. Now I can see what I have. On to the next thing and then I am going to start my fall decorating!

Wow Sylvia you got a lot done!

Let's see here. We've had 90degree weather lately and yesterday it finally dipped to 84 so today I took advantage. 3 pints & 12 half pints of apple jelly setting up (hopefully it sets right never made it before). Got dishes done before my apple jelly mess, have been pricing stuff for our Uff Da Days event on Saturday to sell at our booth, picked up after the kids all day, did lessons with my son for the day, got a few batches of laundry done, and tried a new spicy chicken taco recipe that was a big hit with the hubbie.

Wow! This cleaning thread is making me feel good. I cleaned out a coat closet to make room for my canning supplies and what I just canned this summer. I've been sharing garage space with hubby and it's not working out very well. I asked him to make a couple of shelves. Nothing happened for days.Going onto week 2, I mentioned I was going to Home Depot to buy some shelves for the closet. He just took off and offered to buy them and set them up. Instead of an hour, job done! This shelving is actually better than what I asked for!! Canned goods are stashed, canning equipment easy to reach and get at. Love it!!! The coat closet is by our back door and my kitchen. Could not ask for anything better.
I attacked my sewing room. Got rid of a lot of junk, fabric and organized it. Could use more. You all are inspiring me to do more. Thanks sisters. You're great!

Ok, canned tomatoes, made zucchini mash to freeze for zucchini bread this winter, chopped and froze bell peppers, cleaned and vacuumed the livingroom and bedrooms, went thru 14 boxes of junk that has been in the basement since we moved back up here in 2006, went thru all the hand me down kids clothes a friend brought over, did dishes, did laundry, and took the recycling out. Been a productive 2 days so far.

I cleaned up a really trashy pile of empty flower pots and flower pots with dead plants in them along with other miscellany that has been sitting like an eyesore by our back garage door. Only one thing went into the trash. Everything else got sorted and put away where it should have been ages ago!

We are slowly getting the last of the bathroom done up. Trim is all that is left and only because we did not purchase enough. Next is the outside wall of the bathroom. We extended the room so there are new walls in the room we moved the walls into. Make sense? Anyway now we need to do a clean up in that room which also serves as dh's office for our business. So we have some spackling, sanding (that is the part I hate most, all the dust) and painting to do in this room also. Hope fully we will accomplish it before Winter comes. As always I continue to purge. Seems every time I get a good handle on it more stuff comes in. Trying to keep on top of it all. We need to do a purge/ clean in the garage and basement too. Happy cleaning everyone!

Paula, sounds like you are very motivated now. We just cleaned up all the roofing that came off in the storm. It is a good feeling to see it all cleaned up.

Chantelle, you managed to get a lot done! Wow! I'm so glad we have all encouraged everyone in their progress to "Get'R Done"

Pulled apart my wall of shelving in the bedroom and sorted through the books and various junk that accumulated up there. Have a box to donate to the local library and a few items I'll throw in a garage sale later this month. Hauled 9 huge boxes out of the basement of stuff that has sat there since we moved here in Fall 2006. Most was either donatables or throwables. Nice relief to see a whole pile go byebye. Hoping to get another stack of boxes out of there by the end of the week. We want to pull apart the old wood shelving in the basement and redo them. Make a nice place for all the stuff we can. We harvested a lot of tomatoes and are letting them ripen up on our counters (last year someone stole 2 harvests of our tomatoes, both times when we were out of town). My hubbie has a lot of scrap computer parts down in the basement too. Hes a computer technician so its expected, but I'm going to have him go thru and bring all the useless metals to a scrap dealer. Then I'm going thru his stuff and putting them in totes... less dust on his computer parts and less stuff for mice to get into :) . He still has to finish the grout and sealant in the bathroom and change out the hose for the sink in there, but hes been helping the neighbors/cousins move stuff out of a house(cousins fiancé's mom died suddenly). This summer has gone so fast and we've gotten a ton done... just not the main projects we wanted to get done. Oh well we'll get there.

I just started reading this thread backwards from most current to previous and I have to say that it is highly motivating! Thanks for starting this thread!! I constantly keep a list of cleaning things to do and it is so rewarding to be able to scratch off another thing from the list. I finally called a number of someone who was advertising to haul off scrap metal. We've had a pile of metal tubing sitting around for a couple of years(!!) that used to serve as loops on some square livestock feeders that my husband removed for easier access for my equines. It was the best feeling to finally get rid of those things! That was the start of my major clean-up efforts and I'm slowly scratching away at the rest of the accumulation around here. More postings to come!

Well folks,
my list is coming to an end this week, or next. We have taken down light fixtures, and more already. Every day it's cleaner around here. I can't believe we are almost completely done.

We are tackling so much cleaning this week. Finally.

Carpets are getting cleaned, dusting out the pie safe, and so much more. We took another load to recycling too.

I am slowly moving my crafting supplies to my large utility room, and will make it my craft room too (in the near future). I don't have any closets (other than in my bedroom) in the house. So all the coats are in there, along with the larger items to store (ice cream maker, sweeper, carpet cleaner) so it will be fun organizing. I can't wait until we have zero carpet here too. I can then eliminate my sweeper/carpet cleaner, and shampoo for it.

I don't have any linen closets either, so once I have the utility room cleaned out, Hubby and I will design a drawer or shelving system for storage, and still give me space for a work table in there.

My "Get'R Done list is slowly disappearing. Thanks to not having anything to can here this year (ha ha!).

How is everyone else doing this week?

Looks like everyone is keeping busy. I have a lot of canning going on. I just told my daughter yesterday that it is hard for me to keep focused in chaos, so she came over and helped me get rid of three bags of things. She took two along with her and there is still one here. I need to finish adding to it and then get it out of here. Surprisingly enough it made the room we were working in much more manageable for me now. I don't know what I'd do without her. She has a way of helping me stay on track.

Ok, I started on my kitchen finally. Got the counters almost completely cleaned off of the skeleton counter that will be the next project to do. Tile and new vanity (made by hubbie) are installed in the bathroom. We ran out of grout, but I bought some more so we need to finish the grout and seal it. Weeded the garden and picked some herbs. Dehydrated them a bit and put them in their containers. Tore apart the bedroom and vacuumed under the bed, changed linens, and put it all back together again. All in all a productive week.

Well, it's not really "spring" cleaning, but I spent the entire day outside weeding flower beds on Sunday. Today, I will be dusting out my pie safe, weeding more outside, and working in my own bedroom.

Got a few things done whoohoo! I cleaned out a closet in a spare bedroom, cleaned out a hall closet, and under the sink in the hall bath. In the kitchen I cleaned out the pantry and organized . It looks nice. And thank you to Denise and Lori I got two lampshades in the living room cleaned. And I purged some stuff. I now got more spaces. Now I walk around and look at all my handiwork. It feels so good. Yippee!

I too, tackled the kitchen yesterday, FofT. Must have just been a day for it. What really blew my mind was that I actually cleaned the windows. Yes, yes, I did. Inside and out, too boot. I was shocked as I did it and don't know what got into me. There's 23 more to go, but I'll save them for another day ;-) We have our 25th anniv. BBQ on Saturday and I've been shoveling stuff out so when someone has to come in they aren't absolutely mortified by the man eating dust bunnies and such. Smiling & Waving, Sharon

Nice Kristina! I love progress like that. We're getting ready for a town event and we have stuff all over my kitchen for the event since we have a booth. So I have to wait until after Muskie Days to clean my kitchen.

This week I am in clean it up and clear it out mode. Our 25th anniversary is tomorrow and we're celebrating with a BBQ on Saturday. It's a disaster around here. The boys don't do diddly do to help, but that's changing today. I told them get back to doing chores like they're supposed to or there are no electronics what so ever until they do. Even so, I have a ton to go through and get in order before Saturday. I finished my herb garden and also pulled weeds out of one of the walkways. Imagine that...there's actually brick under the weeds. Hehehehehe! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

Smiling & Waving,

I need to do a purge again this Fall. After moving my dad and all of his stuff here, I am going to give him time to decide what he wants to keep and what he wants to get rid of. He is already telling me he needs a trash bag so he can get rid of some things. I'll be happier if he does it himself.

Thank you Denise and Lori. I knew I could count on my sisters. So I will get to it and get the job done. I have been cleaning out. The trash company probably didn't like me last week We had about 7 bags of trash and old broken machines I chunked them. It feels like weight has been lifted off me. Just getting rid of stuff.
