Posted - Sep 08 2012 : 06:13:59 AM Its been awhile since I have posted on here at all. But I have bugs/moths in my flour, I had several pounds ground in May and sell it at the farmer's mkt. Its been in a spare room in plastic totes, I may have to feed it to the chickens, this batch anyway, but what is the best way to get rid of and prevent this?? thanks for any help you can give me. Posted - Sep 30 2012 : 05:31:23 AM Had bugs.. sifter flour. home use only.. That being said. Sometimes you get flour and the bugs are already in there in one form or another and they just show up later. I use Bay Leaves too.. and if you have some bugs. you have to check the for more in other items. But after I cleaned up my pantry and tossed a few things.. no more bugs in years !!

Posted - Sep 18 2012 : 08:09:23 AM Those can be hard to get rid of once you have them. DH had some rice or something back in a closet once and couldn't figure out where all the moths were coming from until he found it! Ick!
I agree with everyone else--make sure you have really airtight containers that will keep the moths from getting in. Also make sure you get rid of all the existing moths in your house. The "Pantry Pest" traps work pretty well if you can put them in an area where there's a lot of them. Also, freeze or toss any infested flour, meal, rice, cereal, or anything of the sort to make sure that all the eggs are killed.

Posted - Sep 08 2012 : 08:19:56 AM I agree with the freezer but if you aren't squeamish put it in the freezer it kills everything then sift it and use it. Won't hurt anyone and it's not wasted.
