Do any of you farmgals listen to music while cleaning your house?
I do! I love Johnny Cash (and June Carter Cash) and I listen to some cds I have of them while I clean my house. I'm not really into house cleaning, but it does need to be done. I have to clean up after a 2 year old 24/7. I feel I no sooner get a room clean and start on another and she has that first one a mess again....GRRR!
For some crazy reason, My good ole buddies John and June get me in a happy mood and that puts me in a semi-cleaning mood and I get more housework done that way. Before we got rid of dish, we had Sirious and I would put it on the Christian Rock. I've always liked Johnny-my dad is a huge fan and it's become our thing now-his ringtone when he calls me is I Walk The Line. But, ever since I seen Walk the Line which is my fav movie now, I really like J & J. So-I clean my house now to some good ole Johnny Cash tunes.
What about you?

I ALWAYS turn on the radio first thing in the morning...make me feel I am not alone in the house
So yes, when I clean I listen to music...all kinds. And when a fave is coing o, I turn the volume up and sing along on the top of my voice while vacuuming hahaha

Johnny Cash is in the mix here, also Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. When I'm cleaning I like stuff that is a little more up-tempo. Pink Martini, a lot of bluegrass, Little Feat..... All those make the clean-up mix:)

Hi Everyone,

I like listening to alot of different things, depending on what type of cleaning i'm doing or my mood of the day. I think my "go to" favorites though "to get me going" are oldies rock, Chicago jazz, salsa/Latin, upbeat (heavy drum) belly dancing, and fast paced drumming music.

Now that I have internet at the house, I like to listen to Pandora.com, it's a free music genome site that allows you to pick by artist, song title, and genre of music. Say for instance when I am doing dishes and mopping, I can type in Chigago jazz and it plays bands and artists that are similar in style of music. Given that I never remember the names of the groups that I like, or keep up with new artists, this site is immensly wonderful.

Blessings,
Dawnia

My husband makes fun of me when I clean the house. I put my ipod on and sing at the top of my lungs. Sometimes we don't have the same taste in music so I just put in the earbuds and sing away. What I listen to depends on my mood that day. There are always show tunes involved. Lately I've been listening to the soundtracks from Glee. Punk, traditional country/bluegrass, good old fashion rock n' roll. I really love rockabilly and music from the 1940-1950's so that's always a must. Oh yeah, Willie Nelson-he is on heavy rotation. LOL!

Anne That's Funny!
You could put on the songs from Paint Your Wagon when the cleaning is a little more normal and breezy. ;D

I listen to all kinds of music depending on the day Collective Soul, Waylon Jennings, Del Webb, Eurithmics, Peter Gabriel, C.W. McCall, Information Society, Jerry Reed, Taco "Puttin' on the Ritz" is a good one to get started.

I listen to Nora Jones (the fall), The Church - priests of Aura, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Crowded house, Beach Boys, My Morning Jacket - evil urges, 10 cc - Deceptive Bends, Crowded House, Vivaldi 6 concerto, Loreena Mckennit - The Visit, Allison Kraus, Kd Lang - absolute torch and twang, Lyle Lovet, Amy Mann, Sarah McClaghlin, Keene - Hopes and Fears. Anyhow those are the one's i've been listening to. I love listening to pandora radio also so i can learn about new artists. We are just music nuts.

I've been getting a lot done to the soundtrack from "Mama Mia"! I didn't even really like Abba growing up, but now can't get enough...good thing too, the house is SPARKLING!

If it's a deep clean day I listen to the 1812 Overture complete with cannons turned up really loud followed by Bach Organ music which my son hated when he was little. He said it was like living in a horror movie! My daughter was just mentioning the other day that if she heard Bach organ music when she was walking down the driveway that I was going to get on their cases about picking up after themselves.....

If it's just light weekly cleaning I prefer Joni Mitchell, John Denver, Dugie MacLean or the Tannihill Weavers.

Blessings, Sheri

I listen to Galic Storm whenever I need to get crackin on the cleanin. They are an Irish group that I just love, I have all of their CD's and have seen them live three times! Hey Brenda, Drop Kick Murphy's are great to clean to! Kind of like cleaning rage music. I have lots of music and have a CD player in my kitchen and my studio. I listen to music all day long and change it to suit my mood or change my mood if the need arises. Right now I have Enya's A Day Without Rain on. I will share the words of one of my favorites:
Ever close your eyes
ever stop and listen
ever feel alive
and you've nothing missing
you don't need a reason
let the day go on and on

Let the rain fall down
everywhere around you
give into it now
let the day surround you
you don't need a reason
let the rain go on and on

What a day
what a day to take to
what a way
what a way
to make it through
what a day
what a day to take to
a wild child

Only take the time
from the helter skelter
every day you find
everything's in kilter
you don't need a reason
let the day go on and on

Every summer sun
every winter evening
every spring to come
every autumn leaving
you don't need a reason
let it all go on and on.

Why not go out on a limb, that's where all the fruit is! "Mark Twain"

How funny. One day, while waiting for a phone call, I was working around the house with LeeAnn Rimes doing Patsy Cline really LOUD, plus the vacuum running. When I finished, I noticed that the phone was blinking. Sure enough, it was the call I'd been expecting. So I called him back and explained that I had been pretending I was Patsy Cline. He responded, "You were pretending you were dead?" Ha ha.

Now that we are trying to wean ourselves off tv, I have music on all the time. Most like it is country but that is anything from southern rock to bluegrass to top 20 to some off the beaten path artists. I like to put in Allison Krauss (sp) at night and let that woman's angel voice put me to sleep. Charlie likes his Taylor Swift- he thinks she is "Perty"!! HA!!

I need noise to do anything around the house, but especially cleaning. Right now, Pat Green is in the player.

Gotta have music to get the blood pumping!! I loooooove the old country well 70's old country. I grew up on it. I have to have me some J&J very often among Dolly, Loretta, Tammy & George well you know all of them...hehehe and I like any kinda music too.

My new favorite song I have only heard a couple times, that may not be new but new to me, is Brooks n Dunn "Put a Girl In It".
If you don't know it you can find it on You Tube! Is it new??

I have to have a radio or playlist or old records or something on at all times. Drives my dh mad, he rarely listens. Maybe the reason he is so grouchy! just kidding.......

I like to blast Buddy Guy, B.B.King, Little Milton. lots of blues, James Brown, Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon, and Tracy Nelson, both when she was with Mother Earth and on her own. Otis, Aretha, Years ago if I wanted to irritate my children I would put in Delbert McClinton or Van Morrison, Elvis Costello, something nice and lively...Karin
