...is giving my hubby all kinds of ideas! I think the man a crush on Paula Dean! LOL Grandparents just bought our kids "Dish Network" for a year, and guess who is tuning in to Paula, Emeril, etc? Anyway, this reciped looks so good, DH, requested it for Thanksgiving. The rest of the dinner looked wonderful too! You might want to check it out for yummy new ideas!

Pumpkin Gingerbread Trifle Recipe courtesy Paula Deen
See this recipe on air Wednesday Nov. 22 at 1:00 PM ET/PT.

Show: Paula's Home Cooking
Episode: Thanksgiving

2 (14-ounce) packages gingerbread mix
1 (5.1-ounce) package cook-and-serve vanilla pudding mix
1 (30-ounce) can pumpkin pie filling
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 teaspoon ground cardamom or cinnamon
1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping
1/2 cup gingersnaps, optional

Bake the gingerbread according to the package directions; cool completely. Meanwhile, prepare the pudding and set aside to cool. Stir the pumpkin pie filling, sugar, and cardamom into the pudding. Crumble 1 batch of gingerbread into the bottom of a large, pretty bowl. Pour 1/2 of the pudding mixture over the gingerbread, then add a layer of whipped topping. Repeat with the remaining gingerbread, pudding, and whipped topping. Sprinkle of the top with crushed gingersnaps, if desired. Refrigerate overnight. Trifle can be layered in a punch bowl.

Oh my lotsa Paula fan's here! Love the Pounda Butter Paula, bramble! My kind of cook. I love that she actually TASTES her cooking too!

Debbie, so glad to hear a good review on this recipe! I am making it for Thanksgiving dessert. I'm guessing it will be a hit!

My sister used to have a lovely little restaurant in our hometown. When I worked with her, we watched Paula on the kitchen TV, AND cooked her recipes! Everyone loved my sister's (Paul's) cooking! LOL Sis has since moved to AZ, so sad! I miss her, and "her" cooking!

As for hubby...he is already looking up recipes online, and was so thrilled that you can print them out on premade cards! I handed him an issue of Paula's magazine and he said "I didn't know we had THIS!!!" He took it to work to puruse. I'm sure he will be cooking something up in the kitchen real soon!

Sumo westling...banish the thought!

Rhonda! We love "Pounda Butter Paula" at my house! We call her that because every recipe seems to use ATLEAST a pound of butter! Seriously, any recipe I have ever made of hers was just delicious and actually turned out (unlike MANY of Ms. Martha's...). We just had a baking day on Sunday and I took the Christmas edition. Much ooohhhinhg and aaaaaahing, tis very nice indeed!

PS...As for your husband...be glad he's watching this ( there is a slim chance he might actually cook for you!) Just think, if he had newly discovered sumo wrestling...well maybe we don't want to go THERE!

with a happy heart

Rhonda,

One of my friends made the trifle recipe for our Pumpkin party and it's soooo good.

I had never watched her show until the other day - she had a Thanksgiving special on. DH and I watched her make a Turducken. A Turkey that is filled with stuffing, a duck and a chicken. Quite the bird. You can get her other recipes off of her website www.PaulaDeen.com. Went there and got the Honey Game Hens.

Paula Dean, is a good show and I have her cookbooks, have used a lot of her ideas. Have you seen her new magazine, and especially her Christmas issue? Really nice. Your husband has good tastes in choosing his cooking shows.
