This cake was created by President Madison's wife, Dolly. Dolly Madison was a very fine and secretive cook, with deep religious convictgions. She wrote this recipe so her imitators would have to read the Bible to Bake the cake.
Hence the name, Scripture Cake.
1 c. Judges 5:25
1 3/4 c Jeremiah 6:20
1/4 c. Proverbs 24:13
6 Job 39:14
1 Kings 10:2
3 teaspoon Amos 4:5
1 tsp. Leviticus 2:13
3 3/4 c. I King 4:22
1 c. Genesis 24:11
2 c. I Samuel 30:12
2 c. Revelation 6:13
1 c. Numbers 18:8

Thanks Debra. I received a cookbook with the recipe, during my Hearthside cooking class. I have copied it for my kids hope chests also.

I found this recipe in a Cookbook from Village Missions. All of us pastors wife put in recipe's and this was in it. Love it. Remember to check out my blog for the ingredient's.

I made this cake last April. It was part of our Hearthside cooking class. So neat to make and it tasted great.
