I've never heard of this. We canned some apple pie filling from our apple trees this fall. I may have to give this a whirl.
Interesting.

The Elegant Farmer Pies are definitley good, I worked there for 3 1/2 years and spent winters making the pies. The recipe posted above from The Food Network sounds like it would work about the same way. If it is the right kind of crust it will be hard, sweet and crispy. Make sure you cut open the bag and put it back in the oven like the recipe says to brown the top crust, otherwise they are pasty white and soggy!

Has anyone ever baked their apple pies this way?? I know I shouldn'd be trying this right before Thanksgiving- but I really want to try it!

The Elegant Farmer is a restaurant and bakery that has their famous apple pie in a bag. Here is their website http://www.elegantfarmer.com/
It is also sold at K and W Greenery in Janesville, WI. I hear it is very good! Here is the recipe http://www.ionlinephilippines.com/2009/08/elegant-farmer-apple-pie-recipe-baked-in-a-bag/

Copy and paste the above in your address window and it should take you to a recipe.
If you have trouble, let me know and I will try a different way.

Never heard of this and will be anxious to try it!
