Posted - Nov 01 2010 : 06:31:38 AM I always use Brooks Chili Hot Beans in my chili and I cut a chuck roast into small cubes instead of hamburger. I also use V8 instead of plain tomato juice. Mine is always better the second days after I make it though.

Posted - Oct 31 2010 : 8:48:14 PM We are lucky to have one in my area, and I am never disappointed in the quality of their spices. Hope you find a chili recipe you like! Of course trying them all out would be pretty fun too!

Posted - Oct 31 2010 : 6:51:13 PM I make mine from semi-scratch. 2 lb ground beef, 1 lg can chili beans, 1 can or pint of tomatoes, a couple wooden spoons full of chili powder, 1 lg onion (chopped), 1/2 can chopped green chilies, cumin, salt and pepper. Brown the ground beef and onion. Add salt and pepper. Add the chili powder. Stir in the chili beans, tomatoes and green chilies. Let simmer about 30 min. Add cumin to lightly cover the top of the chili con carne. Let simmer another 30 min, adding water as needed. Add more cumin if needed. This is the recipe I use to can for later use. I double or triple the recipe, eat some that night and maybe the next day, then pressure can the rest for a quick meal. |
