Posted - Oct 12 2010 : 5:22:41 PM I have always used some sort of mix, canned apples, etc. I'd like to get a recipe that uses fresh apples & is more of the farmgirl fashion.
Thanks so much!

Posted - Oct 28 2010 : 06:10:00 AM Hi
I have heard Apple Crisp mentioned before but never knew what it was - we call it Apple Crumble and I love and cook it loads. I like to add ground ginger to the crumble mix - this is espicially good if cooking a rhubarb one - alternatively i like cloves in with the apples.
Dutchy - it freezes very well and can be reheated from frozen.
The best thing with it good old custard.

Posted - Oct 28 2010 : 05:19:52 AM Can you freeze them?? I received apples last sunday and would like to make apple crisp as well. But I don't eat it all in one go lol.
And with WHAT do you eat it, or just solo??

Posted - Oct 25 2010 : 11:55:09 AM You girls all have it together so well! My recipie doesn't have measurements... I just kind of do a little of this and that.
I cut up usually several large tart apples and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. I then get some rolled oats and mix them with lard (real lard) until they kind of hold together. then i put it on top of the apples. and sprinkle the top with more cinnamon and sugar. Pretty simple and easy, but I am going to try the others as they sound great too!! |
