I have always used some sort of mix, canned apples, etc. I'd like to get a recipe that uses fresh apples & is more of the farmgirl fashion.

Thanks so much!

Sue, I just DO NOT like the "good old custard" sorry :) Guess it can be eaten with yogurt s well (worth a try anyways)

Hi

I have heard Apple Crisp mentioned before but never knew what it was - we call it Apple Crumble and I love and cook it loads. I like to add ground ginger to the crumble mix - this is espicially good if cooking a rhubarb one - alternatively i like cloves in with the apples.

Dutchy - it freezes very well and can be reheated from frozen.

The best thing with it good old custard.

Can you freeze them?? I received apples last sunday and would like to make apple crisp as well. But I don't eat it all in one go lol.

And with WHAT do you eat it, or just solo??

My recipe is called Apple Crunch:

1 stick butter or margarine
1 Cup flour
1 cup brown sugar Cut these 4 ingredients together
1/2 cup oatmeal

add 1/2 cup raisins or cranberries before putting on apples

about 6 apples peeled and sliced, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar
I like to use a mix of apples, for a wonderful taste.
Cut the other ingredients with your hands or use pastry blender
Sprinkle over apples and bake till done
350 degrees

I add dried cranberries, other than that much the same as Dianas.

You girls all have it together so well! My recipie doesn't have measurements... I just kind of do a little of this and that.

I cut up usually several large tart apples and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
I then get some rolled oats and mix them with lard (real lard) until they kind of hold together. then i put it on top of the apples. and sprinkle the top with more cinnamon and sugar. Pretty simple and easy, but I am going to try the others as they sound great too!!

I use 6-apples med to large 2 or 3 different kinds of apples peel core and cut into slices
sprinkle with cinnamom sugar more cinnamon less sugar if the apples are real sweet.
Put in a 9/13 buttered or sprayed with Pam pan

mix
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
dash of salt
I use a pastry cutter to mix up into a crumble texture.
Sprinkle over apples.
Sprinkle the top with plenty of cinnamon
Bake 30 to 35 min at 350*
