Posted - Oct 02 2010 : 12:09:34 PM Just posted apple butter on my blog. I can't believe how easy it is. I've made jams before but never butter. I just made some and it's sooo easy and super delicious. If you've never made any kind of butters you should!!! I'd like to try that pear or plum butters I've heard about. YUM YUM

Posted - Oct 09 2010 : 05:02:12 AM You know my apples were so tasty that I really didn't have to put any sugar. I don't know why you couldn't leave out the sugar. I don't really like to use artificial sweeteners. And honey is sometimes strange to cook with. But just leave the sugar out. When I was making it I didn't really have a true recipe so I tasted it before adding the sugar and thought to myself that it didn't really need any sugar!! It's worth a try I guess. I love to hear more if you did make some without sugar and how it turned out.

Posted - Oct 07 2010 : 5:23:15 PM There's no comparison to homemade apple butter, the storebought stuff doesn't even come close, for those who don't care for apple butter, it's usually because they've never had homemade. And the aroma in your kitchen when you're making it is wonderful. It's a great way to preserve the abundance of apples this time of year, we have it on toast, biscuits, pancakes, muffins, you name it...so good. I put a little bit of chinese five-spice in mine... heavenly ! |

Posted - Oct 03 2010 : 5:33:08 PM Apple butter is the best! I process it in pint widemouth jars and wrap it with raffia or fabric strips with a large tag for Christmas gifts. I have neices and nephews who ask if they are getting apple butter for Christmas again? They love it and I am glad I can give them a healthy gift, made with love.
