Posted - Sep 14 2010 : 10:21:07 AM Can someone tell me what canning salt really is? Can I just subsitute sea salt (which is the only salt we use) for canning salt in a recipe?

Posted - Sep 15 2010 : 11:56:58 AM I'm pretty sure that salt can't spoil - don't have any data on that but I don't know of a bacteria that could live in a dry salt environment

Posted - Sep 14 2010 : 11:18:51 AM It is salt with iodine like Amy said but it also does not have a "flowing" agent that table salt has which can separate out and be a white deposit in the bottom of the jar when you can.
