We do both (milk and kefir) but get our locally. Kefir grains multiply quikly if you're making it daily so if you know someone that drinks it, I bet they'd have grains to spare!
As soon as we get more property and have a nice green acre for a cow to be on exclusively, we'll invest in our own jersey. I REALLY don't want to feed any hay unless I have to! :)

We drink raw milk from a dairy farm. I'd love to make my own kefir if only I could find some grains. Holding out for local ones grown in raw milk.

We drink raw goats milk & love it! I milk by hand and have 2 right now that I am milking. I hope to be able to keep milking by hand but I know there are times when my hands hurt when I am done! We have never had any health problems from drinking it raw. if anything I think we feel better!
