Posted - Jun 14 2010 : 12:12:37 PM I used the Pioneer Woman's recipe for pizza crust (a yeast recipe, though only a half of packet) and she says in the recipe after mixing all ingredients: place in warm spot for 1-2 hours or put in bowl, cover with saran wrap and put in fridge--it gets better a day or so later.
If I'm making pizza this evening, do I need to take it out a few hours ahead and let it "warm up" so to speak?

Posted - Jun 18 2010 : 6:31:06 PM Homemade pizza rocks! I never buy take-out pizza anymore. I have a super easy recipe for dough that you can make in the food processor. I like experimenting with toppings and cheeses...it makes supper an adventure . It's also a great way to "re-invent" leftovers. Little bits of meat, veggies, etc. left over from earlier in the week usually end up on our Friday night pizza. Yummo!

Posted - Jun 15 2010 : 11:02:51 AM Frannie, it was really good, if I do say so myself :) One was a potato, bacon, leek pizza with fresh mozzarella and goat cheese, and the other had fresh pesto, grape tomatoes sauteed in white wine with wilted fresh spinach, and fresh mozzarella. YUM! Glad there is still a little leftover for tonight's supper :)

Posted - Jun 15 2010 : 05:51:54 AM Thanks, girls. I had my dh take it out and put it in the oven (unheated) for an hour or so. It worked wonderfully! I don't think I'll buy a pizza dough any more--this was so very easy!

Posted - Jun 14 2010 : 2:10:51 PM I've done both ways; right out of the frig and after sitting on the counter a while. It's a little easier to stretch out when it's room temperature but both ways work.

Posted - Jun 14 2010 : 1:20:10 PM Jonni- when I worked at pizza hut, after we had made the dough and let it proof, then we shaped it and it went into the cooler. Then we would take it directly from the cooler, sauce and top the pizza and cook it. Not sure if that helps at all? If it gets warm again it will start rising again too.

Posted - Jun 14 2010 : 12:37:46 PM Thanks, Kayla...that's what I was thinking, but she never came "round robin" with her thoughts in the recipe!
