I don't have much money right now and notice MJ has fantastic recipes but I can not afford to order the stuff she has, ex bakeover and other stuff.

Is there any way to make the recipes without the ingredients?

Yes, you can do so many things with the top (bottom) crust. I have made cornbread, which my husband really liked. I think I like a flour crust better, but I have made many bakeovers and each one is a little different, and I love them all. I just use whatever veggies I have around, sometimes meat, sometimes not. Sometimes tofu or something else - whatever there is, goes in. I have yet to make a dessert bakeover, but I think I am overdue on that one.

Also, I've done variations on the basic crust recipe. Add shredded cheese to it, add chopped herbs to it, or substitute half of the flour for yellow cornmeal, the water for milk, and add 2 T sugar for a cornbread topping.

I have the book and have been using the basic crust recipe for my bakeovers all along. It works great. I usually add just a little extra butter, a few drops exta water and maybe some cheese to make it a bit moister. I also often add rosemary and garlic to the crust.
Here is the recipe:
1 1/2 cups flour
2tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp butter
1/2 cup water
Mix dry ingredients, cut in butter with pastry blender. Add water, form into a ball and roll out a crust to top your bakeover.
I usually don't roll it with a pin, but just stretch and flatten it to the size of my bakeover pan.
At first, I had used the budget mix, but did not buy more when I ran out, and I find the recipe in the book does just as good and tasty a job with the crust.
So good luck and enjoy!!

Which book is it in?

Alee thank you for that info as well. I really want to try some of the stuff from the farm but we are really trying hard to pay off bills and watch every penny. The light is shinning at the end of the tunnel through a little needle hole but none the less it is there!!

Rae- I sympathize- We have been on a tight budget for a long time. I did buy some bulk budget mix from the farm and was surprised at how far one bulk bag of it will go! I especially loved that I knew that it was organic flour. My husband the "I don't want to eat anything healthy unless I can't tell the difference" guy couldn't tell the difference betweenthe whole wheat budget mix and the white. The special milling process her whole wheat flour goes through makes the whole wheat keep all it's nutrition but it is fine enough that it acts like white flour!

The bakeover mix recipe is in the book. Do you have a store with a bulk food section close by? You can find a lot there

Did you check your local library? I just found her book and put a request on it. I'm excited to get a peak at it! We can't afford it right now either.

I think the recipe for the bakeover mix is in her book. I could be wrong on that though. Its been awhile since I've looked at it.

If money can fix it... it isn't a problem. (unsure author)
