I soaked a lb. of red beans overnite for the crockpot today. I was GOING to have Red Beans and Rice for dinner tonight...and told my dh to call me as soon as he and the baby got themselves together so I could explain about how to put the beans on (I chopped all the veggies and meat last night for convenience).

He never called, I've been working (which is what I was supposed to do!) and called just now. He didn't bother putting the beans on because he didn't know they had to cook all day. Yeah, because I've NEVER used the crockpot before, right?

So, now what? Are the beans still good? Can I put them on tonight instead for tomorrow night's dinner? Do I take them out of the water and put them in the fridge or are they ruined?

I've never HAD to go to a plan B because, well, I always do everything, so I'm really not sure about this. Any help is appreciated. BUMMED!!!

Really? Well, that's good, though the "cook" at home doesn't seem too interested in putting them on. He even asked me where the bayleaves were! I know him well enough now to know that's called "stalling"!

If you soaked them all night and started them now they should still be done by dinner.

Thanks, Karin :) I don't know what he'd do if I wasn't around! Probably eat those darn "Lance" peanut butter crackers until the cows come home!!!

Red beans and rice is good anytime, but especially the time when I want it (like this evening!!!) I was soooo counting on that for dinner. Well, tomorrow's lunch, then!!!

Yes, the beans are still good. Red beans and rice for breakfast? Sounds good to me...
