For the last two months or so, every time I make a pie, I've noted that the oven seems to be too hot--the temperature is off, because the crusts are coming out more brown on tried and true recipes that I've made in this oven since I got it. It was never like that before, and it's only about 5 years old...

so how do you fix that? Can you fix that?

You can buy oven thermometers at the store that hang on the oven rack. This will give you an accurate reading and you can adjust youR oven tempas needed.

After a time every oven will either gain or lose heat. Some have 5 to 10 temperature range that can be adjusted. Look on you information for the oven and it will tell you how to reprogram the temp.

I would put a couple of thermometers in different parts of your oven & see what they register. I thought my oven wasn't heating correctly, but it turned out it was right on. Guess the recipes give a estimated time when they are done. Just put your pies in for the minimum amount of baking time required & see if they are still burning up. Good luck with it!

Ha!!! I know, right? I'm totally sweating it!!!

Alright...thanks to Major Mike!!!!! The former sounds like a possibility, because I don't really have a knob to turn it on, it's one of those "push button" temp gauge.

Do I just call a stove guy?

You better get that fixed before you go to miss wilma's. Those boys don't want to be eating any burnt pies!

Major Mike says maybe a bad temperature sensor in the top of the oven(that turns the oven on and off) or the gas valve itself(the knob you turn on and off).
