Posted - Dec 29 2007 : 12:01:02 PM Thanks Sheryl, I thought it was 6 months, but wasn't positive. Thanks again! I'll be doing some next year I think for gifts. |

Posted - Dec 29 2007 : 11:54:16 AM You are supposed to be able to actually "can" them, as long as you don't frost them, and keep them for 6 months! Or, you can freeze them indefinitely.

Posted - Dec 29 2007 : 09:39:28 AM We did this a long time ago, my step father ate them all, even though they were supposed to be gifts. lol So I can't remember how long is their shelf life? (my step father had then gone in a week or two! lol). |

Posted - Dec 28 2007 : 04:34:09 AM Or you can do what I do- get a spoon and a big glass of milk..... :) I will have to look for the chocolate-gingerbread recipe I used one year. They made the best quick gifts at Christmas. Mmmmmm.

Posted - Dec 27 2007 : 11:19:19 PM I usually butter the inside of the jar before using (being careful not to get any on the rim..would not seal as well) and if you use a wide mouth jar (I always do) it slips right out. Or..you can run a butter knife along the inside of the jar and then it does. works really slick

Posted - Dec 23 2007 : 6:48:58 PM I just use my favorite heavier cake recipe (like a coffee cake type apple cake or pumpkin bread...banana bread or cake..like that...) and fill the wide mouth pint size jars only half full. Sit them on a cookie sheet to bake at 350 for about 20 min (check with toothpick) and seal up with a hot jar lid and ring right away while still hot. Yum!! I did nut bread one time this way with cubscouts that was the talk of the neighborhood. Have fun!
