Posted - May 20 2022 : 11:29:37 PM Oh my gosh, I had a lot of fun planning this event. I started planning months in advance, back in January. I made a flier and shared it on MJF forum as well as Facebook and our BFG Facebook page. I planned a California Farmgirl Jubilee Celebration for May 7, 2022. I hosted it at my ranch. I borrowed tables, chairs and canopies since we were going to be outside. We had fried chicken and members brought the side dishes. I had a special Birthday cake for Mary Jane and we sang Happy Birthday. I planned 22 station activities, keeping in mind some of the harder to earn merit badges to give the ladies opportunities to complete some hard requirements such as the wall tent. I made a second flier hand out to tell what the stations were and where to count it for a badge. I coordinated with Tina to host the orienteering course. I gave demonstrations on tatting, wool carding and drop spindle. I coordinating with Sherrie to host a Chalk couture station. We made fabric paint stencil aprons. We did the Barbie Doll challenge from MJF magazine. Juanita won our contest with her Barbie dressed as a Bee keeper complete with a bee net hat, real honey comb and in a real bee transport wood case. I had prizes and gift bags. Some of the stations were: Carding wool, drop spindle spinning, Tatting, making a quilt block with chicken fabric and Pansy (2022 herb) fabric, button swaps, fabric swaps, make a button bracelet, wood painted clip board, recipe collecting for our BFG cookbook, putting up the wall tent, orienteering, recycling, making Terlingia herb mix, tree identification, wild flower seeds, Heirloom seeds, merit badge book and badge display ideas and Pin the tail on the cow game. For decorations, I made State Jubilee signs, hung my quilts, afghans and aprons on the fence. I put the tractor and the antique horse carriage in the pasture for photo ops. Everyone helped clean up which was great as I needed to get to the fairgrounds for a leader meeting to kick off our County Fair week. I wish more people were able to attend and that the wind was not so bad that day. My budget was $500 for this event. Everyone had a good time.
