Just picked her up today. She in such good condition on the inside! I'm so excited! A new coat of paint on the outside and she will be a vision! She is a 1962 Fan. I will post some interior pics later when I get home. Squeel!!! She's all ready for memories with this family of 5!

hey Siobhan,
how goes the re-model?
I just peeked into Heathers and lookin' cute....
I took mine out camping to Wenatchee 2 weeks ago, & I still have not cleaned her up...but I better get my rear in gear, I have another trip coming up the 1st weekend of Aug....and am putting the Scotty on display in the middle of Aug at a friends Vintage/antique sale...she will decorate it w/ a bunch of her goodies that will be available for sale.
Isn't it great to be addicted to a vintage trailer?

MIkki,
We down sized from a 30 foot 5th wheel and I tell you what we thought we had it all in the big one but our little one is SOOOOOOO much better! Homey and so fun to relax in and around. Our little girl was a blank canvas when we picked her up. The fun part about having a vintage is the personalization. I love to antique and now I have a new set of somethings to look for. The Hubby and I actually sat in the driveway last night after finishing up for the day (more camper renovations) and played cards and had us time in our "little House". Aren't we the silly but relaxed grown ups in our very own playhouse!

The awning on mine I purchased from a gentleman in CA, he also sells on ebay and does custom orders. It wasn't to expensive at all. The corners of the awning have brass grommets for the tips of the pole to sit in. I bought those at Wal-Mart, they collapse so it makes for easy storage. Then I use two stakes and rope to stretch and steady. The awning has a rounded rubber edging which slides into a aluminum channel attached to the camper. I purchased the channel by the foot at camping world but I'm sure you can get it at any place that sells awnings it pretty standard issue.

I have gotten a lot of inspiration from the Sisters on the Fly Web Site, Southwest Vintage Camper Association Web Site and our own Grace "katmom". I wasnt sure what to do about my avacado stove and frige until she gave me courage to paint paint paint with spray paint!

By the way never give up your search. I looked for a year until I found one in my price range and acceptable condition. The hunt is half the fun!

Heather, how did you do your awning? How is it attatched and how does it stand up with the poles? What material did you use? Your camper is gorgeous! I can't wait to see more pics on your blog!!! We have a huge camper and are wanting to downsize and I'd love one like this!

Grace, you've made some really cute changes! I love the Polka Dots and the tea set is to die for!

I've been thinking about joining up with the Sisters on the Fly. So many of the events are north of me, do you know off hand if there are any gals down my way that I could do short trips with when I join? Drop me an email or reply here, Thanks!

Heather, it never ends...re-pairing, re-doing & re-decorating! lol!
There are so many great finds to use for decorating your trailer in 2nd hand shops, vintage shops & where you least expect it...Target, TJ Maxx etc.
I just posted a pic on my blog of a recent find @ Target...take a pek when you have a min.

I love my little camper. I have had a cool time "glaming" it up and making her just perfect. Right now I have the hubby changin the configuration of the front dinette. It began as a U and was really tiny. Now by relocating the water tank and taking out the bottem of the U I have a standard booth with double the room. We also added a large solar panel to the roof to power lights and my lap top. I just love looking and making goodies to add to it! I'm hoping on getting more pictures up on my blog.....I keep telling myself when schools out. Could happen LOL!

Congrats on your purchase and happy camping!

Julie, You can also go on Serro Scotty Enthusiast website, they post vintage Scotty campers on it. E-bay also has some. The other thing people do here in the south, is just driving around, if you see one in a yard or field, stop and ask! I know a lady who has acquired 3 that way and has her eye on the 4th. She and her husband do an amazing job restoring them, inside and out. They are out there, just keep your eyes open wide! She actually has a Shasta for sale, BUT I don't have her address. I know she lives near Nashville, TN - LONG way for you.
Good luck in your search
Hugs, Ruth

I kept my eye out on craigslist, but there is also this site that you can look them up by brand and year and location and such and it will list different campers from different places like ebay and craigslist combined.

Any suggestions on how to find one, or know of anybody who has one they are planning on selling? I did look online here and there, but I think they are few and far between! doesn't need to be fancy, I want to do it up myself. You can bet there will be ric rac and polka dots in the decorating!!!

One of the things I luv about vintage trailer groups & the Sisters on the Fly group...is that we all LOVE our trailers, luv to decorate them, share info on the hows, what's & where's of repairing~remodeling our trailers....
I have yet to meet a trailer enthusist who won't share tips on working on a vintage trailer.
We love to share & show-off!
But most of all, I love playing house in my mini house on wheels...I can decorate it up in vintage 50's deco or in a cowgirl glam or just a fun Scotty Dog theme...what ever tickles our fancy. Just think,,,curtain clad windows, vintage linens layered on the bed,,,thrift store junk treasured finds to decorate you trailer.

If you get a chance check out the book "Sisters on the Fly" by Irene Rawlings.(Andrews McMeel Pub)..lot's of wonderful stories & our very own MaryJane is in the book (page 56) with her sweet little Tear Drop trailer.
Oh and our dear Rene'~ ruarlfarmgirl has her favorite camping meal "Fish Chowder" (pg79) listed in the book.
There are also so many wonderful sites on the internet that will help you become a sauvy trailer travelin' mama.
After all, it's all about the fun and making Girls outta Women!
So ladies get out of your comfort zone & get a vintage trailer....

Hey Shery...I think I hear your brain cells churning' yer hearts a yurnin'...you wanna, you needa... a special lil trailer...now I wonder what you might name it....after all the name can reflect the silly side of our personalities! lol!

Wagons HO & Happy Trailes to you...

What a wonderful little trailer!! To find one in such good shape inside & out is great. The original color is even cool...aqua...so retro-cute. What fun you'll have fitting her all out with vintage goodies. Has she a name yet? Just in time for summer fun.

Your camper is so cute! Are you sure you want to paint it? I think it's great just the way it is. I'm sure the inside will be cute as can be when you get done redecorating it; I've looked at some of your pictures of things you've made and you're very talented! Be sure to post pictures as it progresses!
We have a camper also but it's a toy hauler for carrying around the motorcycle and 4 wheelers. It's about a cozy as a bowling alley!!

Count your blessings!

Hi Ruth,
Thank you for the invite to the rally, it sounds like so much fun. Unfortunately I wont be able to make it, thank you though. I had to look up where Walland is located... and Epworth. I was born and raised in northwest GA. Now we are located about an hour from Nashville. I bet it is so beautiful being so close to the Chattahoochie National Forest. Blue Ridge is one of my favorite towns!
