Cindy and N@n I'm with you. I go treasure hunting...rocks, feathers, neat designs in the clouds, a sprout, a bug, anything and everything. I have a teeny tiny cramped house, but we bear with it because it comes with a large lot (for the city) because I'm required to live within the city limits for work. I couldn't bear a teeny-tiny yard!

I went camping for the first time last summer with my best friend and our 8 year old sons. It was glorious!!! When I read the posts from folks that describe their land (vs. my "yard") it gets me dreamin'! Keep describing ladies, it gets some of us through the day.

Prayer costs nothing, but is worth the most.

Hey Channah,

I love hiking and camping. Fishing is okay and I want to go through Hunter's Safety this year so I can go hunting with my honey

I just like being outside and reading. I also like canoeing and fishing. Wow, I haven't been fishing in forever! Maybe once summer comes I'll ask my Nanu to take me. I used to love fishing.

The nature center that we go to asked everyone to bring them sand from their travels last year. They received sand from all over the world! They put it in vials and have it displayed under glass in a "coffee table" it's all nicely labeled. I told hubby that I want a glass coffee table so I could do the same with all my nature collections!

We collect everything on our travels. Sand, shells, rocks, feathers, pinecones, interesting sticks, bones, you name it!

I imagine dirt would look pretty neat in vials as well!

Deb, that would be fun! I agree that we should wait till the spring. How fun!!

Claudia, I love your idea!! Dirt sounds wonderful!! The only places I have been is CA, NM, and here. YAY! It can be small, maybe like a cool rock, etc.

Hugs,
Channah

Channah, I think your idea is wonderful. I don't know how it would work, but what I think would be neat is to have a list and all of us send something to each person...just going down the list of people. Maybe starting off with the next person on the list and then ending with the person right before us. I live in Deer Park, (Eastern WA state) and I would even like a little baggie of each person's garden dirt to place in my flower garden, so that I have a spot for each. I might have a daisy growing up surrounded by Maryland dirt, and put some New York dirt around my lilac, or some Texas dirt surrounding a rose. Dirt has always been a big part of my life. That may be stupid, but it is something I would like.

I love walking and going to grandchildrens sports events and just out seeing the neigbors. Sitting around with all of them and chatting. It's surprising the different directions the visits will take. My most favorite thing to do is sit in the shade with a cool glass of tea, my book and just relax. That is one place that I can let my mind just wonder and a wonderful place to finally get answers to things that have been on my mind. It's kind of like my little place in heaven! God and I have had many, many visits out there under the shade tree!

Blessings, Brenda

Maggie - we would do a nature swap. Let's wait until the weather warms up. Sometimes after the thaw we find small fossils in our yard. (We're near a quarry - I forget the stone that our house sits on)

Channah you may be young but you have some very nice ideas. The nature swap is nice. My husband and I newly retired last year are going to start taking long camping trips across the USA. We both love the out doors in all ways, camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, site seeing we just love the out doors so to take a few years as we can with health to travel and spend our life savings before we are to old seams like a good idea to us. We start our large trip in May. Virginia to PA on to Washington state and Alaska before heading home once more. Just to regroup and start once more with some time back at home. Yes there are many stops on our trip and I am still working on that please all you ladies on this site give me some input and I will keep you all posted as we camp, travel ans see our great USA. I just love being outside in general. I hike as much as I can. It's my favorite outdoor activity. I always take my camera along, but I also enjoy just spending a day sitting on the back porch knitting, reading, or watching the birds at the bird feeders. My very lazy cat Pepper is almost always at my side.

Camping, fishing, hunting, and my new favorite is duck hunting which I finally got to do the past season. I like just walking and hiking around looking at nature, listening to the birds, squirrels, and seeing deer. I have also found some neat looking rocks and one of them looks like it has a cross on it. There is always something interesting you will find when walking around but in the summer time you have to watch out for that poison ivy and oak. That stuff always seems to find me. One day I want to go horseback riding in the mountains. I'll probably go do that in Colorado.

Just a girl with big dreams.

Hi Ladies, this is to all of you who love to collect little things in nature such as little rocks, pinecones, etc. I have been thinking and I thought it would be so much fun to do a nature swap. I was thinking we could do this in the spring when there are wild flowers we could press. So what do you think? And this is a swap where you can swap and share the little things you find in nature such as a neat little rock, or a beautiful little flower that you can press, or a neat little peace of bark, you name it. I could partner you up or we could all just swap. What do you think? Is this just a dumb idea? Let me know!!

I am a horseback rider too. Up to now we have been restricted to local parks and stuff. But, now we have a trailer and plan to go further and further. Can't wait to do some camping with the guys. Can cover some beautiful trails we have done trails in Arkansas and Missouri beautiful.

Camping! My sweet husband and I have been tent camping for years. The sound of the breeze in the evening, the smell and dancing light of the campfire. The sticky sweetness of perfectly roasted marshmallows. A nap in the sunshine in the afternoon. Sipping wine in our camp chairs. *sigh* I haven't been since my latest surgery in May, but I hope to go this summer again.
