I'm making my boyfriend a fleece blanket for Christmas. I was going to make a no-sew tie blanket, but couldn't find the all-over pattern I wanted; so I got the matching panel instead. I'm not sure how to make an actual blanket out of it. I'd like to make it with a backing. I was thinking of using a blanket stitch, but would that work with two layers? Or do you think I could sew an extra few inches of the solid fabric to the panel and continue the way I would doing the tie blanket? I'm still pretty new at this sewing stuff! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Much love,
Laura

Yeah, I would have liked to make it with fringe, but I don't want to cut into the picture. Thanks for the advice!

If you don't like fringe (not my personal favorite) you can use a double thickness and do blanket stitch, but it works best if one layer is a little bigger and folds over so you have a better edge to bind. And bigger stitches work best on fleece for me. Looks cute with blanket stitch..everything does!!

normally people just fringe the edges and tie the fringe together from the front and back making the double thickness
