Welcome to the MJF Knitters' Hot Socks Swap! This is a repeat version of a Swap-Bot Swap of the same name run by Laura over at Indie Knits (http://indieknits.typepad.com). So many Farmgirls have expressed interest in doing a sock yarn swap, so here we go!

Here's the deal: Send enough sock yarn for your pal to make a pair of socks, and their favorite hot drink (tea, coffee, hot chocolate).

Minimum requirements:

* Enough sock yarn to make a pair of adult sized socks
* Some tea/coffee/hot chocolate (whatever your pal prefers)
* At least one other little treat (for example a set of knitting needles, chocolate or body lotion)

HOW TO SIGN UP:

Send an email to me (sockswap AT yahoo DOT com) with the following information:
* Your full name and MJF screen name
* email address
* mailing address
* answers to the following questions:
1. What do you prefer - solid, variegated or self-striping?
2. Favorite colors?
3. Are you a beginner, intermediate or experienced sock knitter?
4. Tea, coffee, or hot chocolate - what's your favorite? If coffee, what do you use to make it and do you prefer whole bean or ground?
5. Do you have a fiber preference? (i.e. Are you a yarn snob like me?)

IMPORTANT: YOU MUST SIGN-UP BY EMAIL AND PROVIDE THE INFORMATION REQUESTED ABOVE. IF I DO NOT RECEIVE ALL OF THE INFORMATION, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE.

Sign-up closes on December 31st, and packages should be mailed by January 15th.

FAQs:

Q: Who can join?

A: This is open to all MJF Farmgirls on this forum including our international girls.

Q: How much yarn should I send?

A: Please take the time to check the yardage and ensure it is enough to make an average sized adult pair of socks (around 400m/435 yards).

Q: How will I know who my pal is?

A: After sign-up closes, I will e-mail you with your partner's mailing information and yarn/hot drink preferences.

Q: What happens if I can't send my package by January 15th?

A: Please do not sign up unless you can commit to this deadline. That said, I will completely understand if life gets in the way and you need a bit of extra time. Just drop a line to your pal and to me as soon as possible!

Q: How much should I spend on my pal?

A: This is up to you. However, I would suggest a minimum spend of $30, NOT including postage.

If there are other questions, let me know here. Okay Knitters, here we go!

Still waiting, Catherine - I'll let you know. But I have finally posted those stamps off to you, so they should be there in about two weeks.
Best wishes,
Jayne

Hi Catherine,
It hasn't arrived yet, but I have emailed Troyce and it was sent sea mail - when I order from amazon they send sea mail and it can take up to 2 months. So I don't want everyone feeling they have to send me more - I'm sure it will arrive soon. Otherwise I'll end up with heaps of stuff!!!
But thanks so, so much for thinkingo of me - farmgirls are so sweet!!
Best wishes,
Jayne

Howdy Hot Socks Swappers!

Are we done yet? Has that last package made it all the way to Australia YET?!? Jayne, I'm assuming it hasn't since you love to log on and tell us about your fun mail days too. Never fear, Farmgirl Angels to the rescue!

Farmgirl Angels, you know who you are! Send me an email if you're still interested/able to help out with this last swap package gone missing. We need to send some sock yarn and goodies Down Under right quick!

We've got to officially wrap up this swap if we plan to open *another* one after the dishcloth swap is over!!!

Catherine :)

Thanks Catherine and all other FarmGirl Angels,
I will let you know as soon as my package arrives - I never know whether I'm inconviencing people by entering swaps, but I so love making up the packages for other girls - that is reward enough for me!!
Best wishes,
Jayne

Situation almost resolved. Just got an email from Grammy that the package was sent and was supposed to take a bit of time to get all the way down under. It can be tracked if it doesn't arrive in a timely fashion, so let's all stay in touch and hope that it gets there soon!

Anyone else out there without a package yet?

A special THANKS to the Farmgirls who offered to jump in to be a Hot Socks Swap Farmgirl Angel for Jayne! Farmgirls rock...

Catherine :)

I'm on it! I'll be contacting the Farmgirl in question to see what's up! Rest assured, Jayne, that your Farmgirl Angels will cover you. No Farmgirl who participates so graciously in a swap should be left without a gift in kind!!!

Oh Jayne,
I feel terrible that you sent me such a wonderful package and you haven't gotten yours yet. I hope you get something soon. If not I may just have to send you a little something!

Hi Catherine,
My parcel hasn't arrived yet - I don't know whether to worry about it or not, being so far away; it may have been sent sea mail. I did notice though that my partner has only made 2 posts on MaryJane's and the last one was Dec 20th. What do you think?
Best wishes,
Jayne
(It will probably arrive tomorrow, now that I've mentioned it here!)

Whoa! Well, I guess, better late than never! I assumed that all was well with this swap and that everyone had received their packages. So one more is on the way...anything else outstanding? Is anyone worried that their partner may have forgotten them? Send me an email if so, and we'll see what's up.

Catherine

Hi

Wow I really hate computers. We had the power supply go out and a problem with the motherboard but we are up and running again. I will get my package out tomorrow since the post office isn't open today. I was not smart enough to write down my swap partner's address before the computer crashed. Sorry for the delay.

Woohoo! Jenny, that was an AWESOME package. Love that yarn. How thoughtful and fun!

Is everyone else getting their stuff? Still so fun to hear about the last few packages as they land on their doorsteps!

Hello Hot Socks Swappers!

Just another check to make sure that those packages are being sent and received. For those of you who were still waiting on packages, have they arrived? I know that some were waiting for yarn orders, so they might not have been able to send yet. Please update when you receive your packages so we can close out this swap!

The sign-ups for the Spring Knit/Crochet Dishcloth Swap are open through Wednesday February 7th, so head on over there if you want to join another one!

Thanks for swapping!

Catherine :)

Julie-Blue Apple,
The package was wonderful thank you so much. I just love the yarn and pattern for the baby booties. I can't wait to start them. I love the entire box. The apron book was a wonderful added bonus. You did a great job on my box. Thank you.

Alrighty! I just went through and reconciled the list with these posts here and it looks like we're A-OK. There are a few packages still waiting out there, but they are either delayed because of yarn orders (don't fret girls, good yarn is worth the wait!) or their senders have said that they're on the way!

Still keep us posted here about the last packages as they arrive. So fun to see photos and hear stories of "chocolate gone missing before photos!"

I have a few more ideas brewing for some spring yarn swaps and will post the options soon. Too, too fun!

Catherine, the one who's addicted to all things yarny :)

I agree, it was so much fun! Maybe we could do one that has something in it that our partner has knitted. Something simple like a dishcloth or something. I know I loved that Jayne included a little gnome that she had made in her package for me. Just a thought!

I haven't received mine yet, but my lovely partner has emailed me. Same story as Jenny; ordered from the internet so waiting for it to arrive. I can't wait to see it!!
Are we doing this again, Catherine? This has been one of my favourite swaps - and that was just making up a parcel for someone else, I haven't even seen mine yet!
Best wishes,
Jayne

I havn't sent mine yet..but have emailed my gal and explained it to her..waiting for some special ordered yarn that is taking forever to get here. Gosh how I wish I had a local yarn shop closer than an hour and 1/2 away...or that I had ordered from somewhere else at this point!!

Hello Swappers!

It's so great to see so many awesome packages arriving on Farmgirls' doorsteps! Such great yarns and treats!

I've been meaning to check in to see if everyone has sent and received a package, but haven't had a chance until now. It seems as though most/many of you have received your packages.

Is there anyone who HAS NOT RECEIVED a package?
If so, please respond or let me know privately right away so we can employ some Farmgirl Hot Socks Swap Angels to the rescue!

Is there anyone who HAS NOT SENT a package?
If not, why not?!? Get a move on! Some sweet Farmgirl is sitting around somewhere waiting to start knitting her socks with a hot cuppa somethin'!

Happy knitting everyone!

Catherine
