To summarize: Sign up by mid-September; partners assigned Oct 1; mail your towel to your partner by Nov 15 -- Embroider on feedsack or osnaberg ..... no theme (could be floral / kitchen theme / veggies / fall motif / kitsch). Elizabeth -- candismom -- will assign partners. Am I right?

I was just wondering how big is this swap getting. I guess it doesn't really matter if we are trading 1 to 1 and not every to everytone. I think I counted 13 so far. Still wondering if there is a theme or not.

Thanks Jana - Osnaberg was what I was thinking of too. I use that for redwork all the time.
This sounds like fun - I was also wondering about Sunshine's question - is there to be a theme?
Best wishes,
Jayne

Jayne,
I think a lot of people embroider on flour sack towels that you can buy already hemmed in fabric or craft stores. I like to work on Osnaberg, as it is heavier. I suppose muslin would be fine also. I have also done Huck (Swedish Weaving) which can be done on Huck fabric, which is a little hard to find or Aida cloth.

Yup, put me on the list. I think tea towels are wonderful!!!

Oh I would like to join in too - I had an idea that tea towels would be a good swap the other day when I found a website with free vintage tea towel patterns - you know those cute days of the week ones. So guess what someone would be receiving!
Let me know though if you think Australia is too difficult (postage can get expensive and I don't want to put anyone out).
Just a question, what fabric does everyone else embroider their tea towels on?
Best wishes,
Jayne

do the towels have to be embroidered or can they be painted with fabric paints?

I think the plan is a good one -- and if we sign up, we can begin the towel right away, even before receiving our assigned partner -- that gives us even more time. Sunshine, you will make such a fabulous towel, everyone will want it!
sunshine Posted - Aug 30 2006 : 12:36:41 PM
If I embroider a towel it will take more than an afternoon.

I was think od doing sign up the middle of Sept for a week Then assigning parters Oct 1 and we could mail Nov.15 in time for Thanksgivings. How does that sound to everyone. That would us lots of time. The pattern on the towel doesn't have to be fancy. I have some I can stitch in an afternoon. I use aunt Martha a lot or Crabapplehill studio patterns too.
Hugs,
Elizabeth

Make it a late September or an October swap, maybe, to give us all a chance to complete other projects/obligations?
