Posted - Feb 11 2011 : 08:13:41 AM I'm looking for ideas to make a new costume to wear for our festivals and special events. I'd like a day dress of sorts with a little fuller skirt. I have some that fit more in the category of a work dress, I'd like this one to be a step (or two) up from that, but not formal. Does anyone have any experience with different patterns? What's comfortable? What works well for a plus size? Full dress or 2-piece? I have found someone to do the sewing for me and she has already made a Civil war gown, so I know she can do the sewing, she doens't have an inventory of patterns to refer to, though.
Thanks for any suggestions/experience you might have. Blessings.

These patterns have a limited size availability and tend to run small but are very accurate.

Posted - Feb 11 2011 : 09:35:05 AM lynda- i made a skirt for myself for a DAR function- it was a very basic but i think i still have the pattern- it was actually for dresses--
if you email your address to me i would be happy to send the pattern IF i can locate it....i wore a white blouse and bought a velvet "cumberbund" -- i am thinking that might be buried in my shed by the snowfallen roof .... i'm at work or i would have looked before i typed....
don't know if any of this helps
as to 1 or 2 piece? i would think it depends on comfort for you- many of us who are or were plus sized are not always evenly plussed if ya know what i mean! a 2 piece even if of same fabric might be easier to wear......
