Hello all!

I took a hiatus from Farmgirl Philanthropy for the past year but I'm ready to rev 'er back up now!

Anyone want to join me in crocheting or knitting Caps for Good this quarter?

Here's some info:

Caps for Good is a new grassroots initiative that is building on the success of the Knit One, Save One Campaign launched in 2008.

The Caps for Good Campaign will run from November 2010 through February 28, 2011.

Knitters and crocheters of all ages and ability levels are encouraged to make a hat (or two) to help protect infants in some of the word's poorest countries so they survive the first few hours, days and the critical first month of life.

Four million babies die each year within the first month of life in developing countries. A cap is a simple solution, which can provide warmth to newborn babies can help improve their survival.

The Knit One, Save One Campaign involved 12,000 knitters and crocheters from all 50 states. More than 100,000 caps were donated and then distributed through Save the Children facilities in developing countries.

And here's a pdf Caps for Good action kit: http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/files/capsforgoodkit.pdf

I'll add your names here if you'd like to help out:

TheresaB - 25 caps made!
Star - 5 caps made!
Betsy - 20 caps made!
Brenda - 12 caps made!
Debi - 20 caps made!

The programs deadline is February 28th, so we'll make ours one week prior, February 21. This will allow me to photograph any hats sent directly to me. You may of course send in your hats on your own, it's just fun to get a picture of ALL the Farmgirl made hats together!

Thanks ladies!

I haven't seen any posts or updates in quite a while. I was hoping that we have made over 300 caps!

I hope everyone who made caps had a fun time..... tiny little hats that mean SO MUCH for these little babies.

You all are so wonderful and I'm amazed by the lovely little caps arriving daily.

Today I received caps from Kim (and thanks so much for the postage donation!) and from Megan. Since there are more caps heading my way, I will try to send the final shipment priority mail on the 25th of February. At that time I will post totals and a final tally!!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!!!

I was so worried that I was too late in sending you the caps that I made. It wasn't until after I took them to the post office that I realized I had forgotten to attach the little tag to each cap. Hope it won't make a difference.

I am a bit late in sending-
We have been short staffed at work. I have a few last rounds to knit, and I have to weave in ends. I'll be mailing Thursday unless I get called to work.

Susan, Loom knitting the Caps for Good is wonderful too and they do work up extra fast. Thanks for caring and looming along with love. I know they will be very welcomed by little babies who very much need them. Good luck with with packing. Crocheting the caps is very easy too. They work up very fast and you can really play around with the yarns.

I have 3 completed with 2 more to go. I set my goal at 5 caps for now because I've been trying to get acquainted with everyone here and the site and we are getting packed up to move a couple of weeks from now. I'm hoping to get more than 5 caps done, but I don't want to promise it in case I run out of time. I've been looming all of mine thus far, but I think I will do some crocheted ones too.

Please add + 6 more Caps to fill up my box to THERESA with 14 caps in the second box that I'll be sending off this week.

My total made should equal 50 "CAPS for Good" which will now complete the goal that I was hoping to reach.

I have very much enjoyed being a part of the "Caps for Goood" 2011.

It was a nice weekend..... a little too windy outside for me..... but sunny and since skipping the Super Bowl this weekend, I am happy to have completed 4 more caps.

Since my previously-posted 36 caps, I have now added 8 more caps to our growing number of "CAPS FOR GOOD" that we are making with love.
