i have posted two new aprons that I made this weekend on my blog:

http://auntgeorgeshouse.blogspot.com/

The pink one is for a friend and the Mary Engelbreit one is for my daugher. Hope ya'll like them. I'm sewing up another one in the morning that is a traditional homespun style. Looking for resonable homespun fabric too.

Found some vintage rick rack on commercial size "bolts" for $5 per bold. Each one has over250 yards of rick rack on it! Got it in pink, red and purple.

I have been reading through the posted sewing blogs and the farmgirls here do such fabulous work. I have so much to learn from all of you. I'm still an advanced beginner, although I have sewn for a long time.

Thanks for sharing! Oh here is my blog, pretty new at blogging!

Georgann,
Hope everything calms down for you soon - it must be really frustrating not getting other things done because work is so exhausting. We will be eagerly waiting any photos of your gorgeous work!
Best wishes,
Jayne

Aunt George,
So glad you are back among us, we missed you, and I did love getting the beautiful book and teapot and cup. That was a big surprise.
If you get time check out my blog, I posted a picture of me wearing the apron you made me, I have a slide show and other pictures.
Are you still at the Hospital or did you take that job with a Doctor that you were considering?
How are the girls and your puppy? ok, and your hubby too.

Jayne,
I'm so glad you received your apron....and cookbook....finally. I do apologize from the bottom of my heart that it took so, so long. You are so kind to say such nice things about the apron. I do hope it fits. I apologize to all of my dear farm girl friends for just dropping off of the face of the earth. Stuff happens......work has totally destroyed me. I don't have time for much of anything but I am trying to get myself up and running again. I have posted a short update on my blog. Gosh, hope my link still works.

Oh, and you should see the gorgeous bag that Jayne sent to me along with the fabulous cookbook...yummmm!!

Hello again my dear farmgirl friends. I'll try to post a bit more often. I am about to start sewing some christmas aprons soon!! I came into a stash of vintage fabric both Christmas and non-Christmas fabric!!

Love you all and hugs to all,
Georgann

Oh, and Nancy Jo, I'm glad you got your box of goodies!!

Thanks, Georgann - I am now the extremely proud and happy owner of the gorgeous Briar Rose apron! I love it so much and can't stop touching it - such beautiful fabric! I will be wearing it today when family come home and I know my daughters will absolutely love it too. I don't know if I want to actually cook in it though - it is just too beautiful!
This was the first swap that I have received back and I was so excited to receive it!
So many thanks, Georgann.

Nancy Jo, I have posted 4 selections of fabric on my blogsite. Be sure to click on each photo and it will blow it up so you can see it better! Just let me know which one you like best.

You can see Kathy's jumper on my blog. Just click on the blog line below and it is the jumper with the rose print fabric. Kathy sent the most exquisite fabric to work with! I'm so glad you like the jumper Kathy!! I was real happy with the way it turned out. I hope it is covering you with a magical shield of love and protection!! :D

Jo...from alaska....cool!! (no pun intended!) Glad you liked the old nursing photos, fun aren't they? Yes, I used to wear the starched white uniforms too. I do still wear alot of white....my patient's and their families really like it. I usually buy mens white pants though...they are far less see through than the women's! I'd love to see your 40's apron! I think alot of nurses sew....very relaxing with the repition. Helps me work out the kinks!!

Nancy Jo, I am working on your package. I want it to be really special, so that is why the delay. Just don't have as much time as I used to, but I promise you will like it!!

Buttercup...remember, when you find some of that antique Japanese fabric, I'll return something beautiful to you!!

Later, making sunday dinner for my family,
Love you all,
Georgann

Aunt George! We're the same age, well for another week and then I'm definitely older. I'm a nurse as well, loved the old photos. Boy did I starch and press those white little dresses. Wore the fancy white hose, went crazy when I got to wear "colors" to work. Now I'm back into blue scrubs OR/PACU after flying/er nursing for the last 16 years. Wear the same thing day after day!

Your aprons are precious, I had a 40's pattern that I bought a few months ago and finished. They remind me of old work clothes!! (the cut), I'm trying the mj apron now. I took the tote idea "farmgirl at heart" and made it into a throw pillow with the embroidery work. Fun projects.

Your blog is precious.............

Words can do no justice to the beautiful long jumper Georgann made for me - I have had it on since it came in the mail - you are the mose exquisite seamstress I have ever know. All of Georgann's items are stitched with "magical" stitches hehehe Georgann knows what I mean - This very talented lady needs to have a shop to sell her items.........
I love it Aunt George and I will cherish it forever as I do your friendship!

Left you a comment on your blog, so glad to see you are on the old mj site again. That Florence Nightengale thing can wear a person out, so remember to take care of yourself first so you can take care of others. See once in a while I say something deep.

Phew....been a long time! Sorry all, just been really busy with work and exhaustion. Hard for this old body to go from sick leave to 32+hours per week in the hospital. Passing out most every night at 9 or so and up at 4:30. I have been sewing though here and there when I can fit in a few minutes. I have posted a couple of projects on my blog today....finally.

Hope you are all having lots of fun without me....sniff, sniff.....shor do miss ya'll.

Hugs and love to you all,

I'm still here, but just barely alive. It is hard being 50 and going back to a busy med-surg unit. I have so many ideas for aprons in my head, but just bone tired. I'll be back on later tonight....if I don't pass out first! LOL....I love you all and thank you for noticing my MIA status!

hey I looked at that vintage piece of lace you sent that you used on the recycled embroidered tablecloth apron ( not sure what else to call it except beautiful) It is a piece of bobbin lace made with white and blue thread that is made by twisting sting (thread) around each other and using straight pins until far enough away from the area to remove pins and set the lace free. I know not a good explanation but yes I can reproduce it. Just type in bobbin lace making in goggle and you will probably fine a good example. I do know how to make this lace I learned how from Dale Palmaroy ( aka The Mad tatter also who taught me tatting ) and Elisabeth Peterson treasure of the beehive lacers a guild of utah lace makers. I hopes this helps if you identify lace types.
