Posted - Oct 17 2009 : 08:52:26 AM Thanks Michele I won't be tempted to use another brand as I love Dmc Simply flowers-- Jamie thanks for the suggestion but seeing as I need about 36 of a one color and 26 of another color it would be cost to much as I have about 24 or more quilt blocks to do Thanks Melody but our Wall- Marts doesn't sell embroidery thread any more I found this place on line http://www.ceciliassamplers.com/ that has it for 42 cents a skein I am going to order the ones that I need the most and buy the rest here in town. thanks for the suggestions. hugs sheila

Posted - Oct 17 2009 : 05:08:17 AM Since you haven't started the project yet, and are making a considerable investment, you might think about using Sulky 40 weight thread on a spool rather than DMC floss. You can probably match the color fairly closely. The benefits are that you don't have to separate the floss into strands and it doesn't twist as much. A much easier product to use and it gives a beautiful result with just one strand of thread as thick as two strands of DMC.

Posted - Oct 15 2009 : 4:28:33 PM If you shop at Wal Marts they have DMC for less than .50 cents but this is the site I use for it if I need a lot, it's .60 cents a skien.

Posted - Oct 15 2009 : 4:13:24 PM Sheila, I don't have any suggestions about a cheaper place to buy DMC but I do know that it is the only floss that is colorfast so don't be tempted to substitute another brand. Also, their dye lots are extremely consitent so you probably don't have to buy all of it once. Good luck with your project Michele
