Hi sister farmgirls, does anyone do plastic canvas needlepoint? I like it because when my eyes weren't so good it is easier to see and faster than cross stitch. I love making 3d things and things like veggies for my kitchen.
I am just finishing a small doll size bed with coaster size quilts that fit inside. I also hang the tiny "quilts" on the wall with tiny clothspins....very farmgirlish.
When my camera starts working again I'll try to post pics.

Anyone want to share what you are doing, did, or want to try?

Another good thing about plastic canvas projects is the supplies are very inexpensive. A sheet is only a few cents and it also takes very little yarn. I get varigated yarn and cut off colors as I need them. The yarn is very cheap then and goes a long way!

Now, isn't that cute? Has anyone a photograph of a hugs bear they've stitched?
SantaTeresita Posted - Jan 26 2011 : 08:07:32 AM
I love teddies and they are great pals to be gifted for Valentine's day or any time you want something special. You can't have too many hugs is the way I look at things from my corner.

So here's a "MR. HUGS" teddy to share with my Farmgirl Sisters here who also love plastic canvas along with me.....

With Valentine's Day on the way.... it's also fun to make hearts for your friends that are personalized with their names. I like to make hearts that have messages written on them..... "I love you" "hugs" " Sweetheart" are just a few sayings that I especially enjoy. When they don't fit on a heart, I simply have fun and make a rectangluar shape with the written word and then add my yarn to create a hanger. These are very fun to add as a house decoration and for package trims.

Did somebody say plastic canvas? Ooooh, I love that craft!

Anyone making anything for Valentine's Day with your plastic canvas?

For me, it's the perfect time to make designs. It's all about hearts which are very easy to cut out or even purchase the precut shapes. I like cutting out my own hearts because I can make hearts in different sizes.

Shades of red and pink for hearts have all sorts of great uses this time of the year..... as in package trims, magnets, and decorations.

I love taking down the Christmas ornaments both inside and outside my house and replacing them with hearts galore!

Have you made your hearts today?

I like all of those places, but probably use Leisure Arts the most.
I have also swapped books for pattern books on paperbackswap. That's an idea you all could do too. I find cheap or free books and swap for another book.
check it out!

Have a favorite place for PLastic Canvas patterns and supplies in the U.S.?

I especially love Leisure Arts, Annie's Attic, and Mary Maxim for their kits. I love "House of WHite Birches" for their plastic canvas books.

Lots of lovely patterns and kits and plastic canvas supplies here.

I agree whole-heartedly Teresita. ANY craft is a work of art no matter what medium is used. Most are made with love and care IMO. I do it all: sew, crochet, knit, embroider, paint, PC etc. and love it all as well

I think each craft has its own magic. Plastic Canvas often tends to be overlooked in the light of other fiber arts like knitting and crocheting. But Plastic Canvas does still use fiber as the main ingredient to create our masterpieces along with the canvas. I look at my projects as another way to express my creativity.

My father was a magnificent artist who used his canvas and his paints, even on the last day of his life on October 29th of 2003. I am my father's daughter who uses plastic canvas for my canvas and yarn to paint my canvas with my needle as my brush. It's all in adding beauty and creativity into our lives no matter how young or old we are or where we live in this world of ours.

There's always a way to enjoy the craft as long as there is that love within us for what we are doing.

Dutchy, then you can become your own designer and make some very lovely designs. As to the plastic canvas, how about in other countries in Europe like UK? That might work out for you.

Hugs!

Teresita, no it is not that popular here :( NO books, no nothing. I sometimes can find the little round PC pieces but not the bigger sheets. I still have one or 2 sheets that I bought in Canada eons ago .... but after they are used.... no idea duh. And yes I am still looking but am thinking about making my own pattern as i go :)

My friend and I are putting together a gift basket and I'm making an all white tissue box for it. It's design is a basket weave. The pure white looks nice.
