Posted - Mar 20 2008 : 1:12:51 PM While viewing Nancy's and other's beautiful embroidery work; I was wondering ; What type of material do most of you use to embroidery on? I brought some at our local quilt shop it is similar to muslin but a little better weave. My grandmothers and Mom used a fabric called Domestic I have searched over the years for it ;but no one seems to make it anymore. Just wondering what yall use? Pinkroses

Posted - Mar 20 2008 : 5:17:37 PM I use muslin, draw a design with a pencil, stitch it up and tea dye the whole thing, hang in sunshine to dry..of course here lately I've had to put it in the dryer for a few minutes to dry

Posted - Mar 20 2008 : 5:07:20 PM I usually use a tea-dyed muslin, but really, you can use anything that has a good weight to it, you don't want it to thick or you run the risk of it being hard to go through by hand, but you don't want it too thin/gauzy..just a broadcloth is probably good to start....hopefully some more experienced then I can help you...I've only been at the embroidery for 2 years....
