Posted - Aug 21 2007 : 3:50:00 PM Okay, I'd like to cross stitch an afghan for a friend of mine, using a sewing/quilting theme. I'm wondering if any of you have ideas, or patterns I might be able to use. Any thoughts?? :)
Blessings!
Jodi

Posted - Aug 29 2007 : 11:19:46 AM Okay, so I found a few assorted sewing-related patterns at 123stitch.com, so that's a good start. I've been thinking how to arrange/stitch them so they have a more organized look rather than just having several different designs thrown together on the afghan. So far I haven't come up with anything, though. And then there's the link to the afghan I was thinking of using...I like the weave design quite a bit. :) Still open to ideas!!

Posted - Aug 21 2007 : 4:43:07 PM Hmm, I'll probably use one of those afghans that have the aida cloth sections specifically for cross stitch, and I'd like the theme, the subject of the stitching to be sewing/quilting.
Blessings,
Jodi

Posted - Aug 21 2007 : 4:14:51 PM Do you have designs in mind - like floral, etc? When you say sewing/quilting does that mean the way you will construct the afghan, or the topic of your stitching?
I remember seeing a beautiful throw that had 12 squares cross-stitched with different floral wreaths, then pieced together like a quilt with blue fabric framing each square and a blue border all round. It was beautiful, but like a small quilt throw. Fabric used for stitching was a white 14 count aida. Backing could be whatever you wanted!
