Welcome....glad you stopped by to see what this Challenge is all about! 
The finished apron can either be worn or displayed. Hang them on your walls, windows, tie to a chairback, hang from a hook, etc.
If that got your attention then you must read on…
The Apron's foundation may be from a Recycled Garment, Readymade Apron (New or Vintage) or a Pattern Design of your choice. Your Apron may be Child Sized or Adult sized, Half or Full ~ it's up to you!
Now the journey begins!! Add an abundance of trims and whatever else strikes your fancy". The idea is to go beyond the normal embellishment you would put on a functional apron. It will be one of a kind!
You can give your apron any type of theme you want to....it could be a Farmgirl, Citygirl, Retro, Spiritual, Going to a party, Vintage, Modern ~ anywhere you want to go with it!!

Yes, yes, yes! I got the apron I posted a few days ago up above this reply about it. It is soooo adorable. I will get my fabric when I go to Alabama next month to make the long ties. You did a fabulous job making it "artful".

Steph, glad you got the apron fabric that I had the good pleasure to decorate. It is such lovely vintage fabric.

Oh Linda thanks so much for the update. Really...don't worry about the fat quarter. I know you are having fun and that's what counts And yes, apron ornaments would be adorable!
Do you know what kind of memory card you need for the camera? I bet you can get a better price from someone on Ebay. Let me know what kind and I'll be on the lookout for one too.

Hey Steph! I miss ya!
Haven't done anything with the apron fabric yet. The idea of making pin cushions is a good one! I could also quilt small flat ones for Christmas ornaments..! Don't ya think that would work?
I've been busy with too many swaps. Got overwhelmed and behind on at least a couple of them.
I did make a 1/2 apron out of the coordinating fabrics you sent me. I also used one of the fat quarters someone sent for the last swap. If I posted a pic she would recognize the pocket fabric...LOL
I still owe you a fat quarter! Keep forgetting...oops
I have your address and stamps...so I'll do that right away.
Also have a new camera that needs a card for the slot to be able to use it.
grrr something else for me to remember to buy. I promise to start takings pics soon...
again I have to say I miss you and your posts. Hope your traveling and moving goes good.

Hey there Grace,
I'm in Southaven, Mississippi which is sort of a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee since it's only 12 miles to downtown Memphis.
I received my mail package from Alabama and your package was in it.
I can't say enough about how "artful" my bistro apron is now!!! It is fabulous 
When I go back to the house next month I'll get the other fabric so I can make the ties for it.
I'll take a picture soon to post so everyone can see it. Has Linda mailed your apron to you yet? When she does please take a closeup picture and post it here, Ok?

Oops...forgot to say...when you are finished with Grace's apron you can mail it direct to her and then I'll get her to send me a picture of it. I took "before" photos so it will cool to show the before and after for each apron.

Hey Linda,
No, actually...you have Katmoms, she has mine and I have both of your aprons to embellish. Since no one else came through with an entry I decided to embellish both of yours.
So you will be celebrating Valentine's package instead of Christmas..
Have you made anything from the Kaufman "aprons" fabric I sent to you? I thought it would be neat to cut out the aprons and add some embroidery here and there and turn them into pinkeepers. I think that design is 4 or 5 years old..I like the red background like you got over the yellow background it also came in..may have been others but don't recall seeing them.
Hope you and Danny are doing well and getting snuggled in for the winter.

Hi Stephanie! No problem, when I get them it will be my Christmas presents. Couldn't Grace and I just exchange our aprons...get them sooner that way? She has one of mine, don't know which one...but you must have the other...

Hey Linda and Katmom,
I'm way behind with the apron trimming...I'm on the road with Thomas and still in a hotel right now and may not get home til Christmas to pack up more stuff to bring back with me... soooo Linda your aprons will not arrive back to you for a few months at this point but I promise they will be awesome upon arrival!

I looovvvee roses...That fabric is 50+ years old..it's a curtain panel and I have the bedspread to match. No telling what it will become one day

This topic is now exclusively for "Challenge" entries which just means that you will email me a picture of your Artful Apron to go in my gallery. You can also post your picture in this topic.
The other part of this topic will about supplying sources for embellishments and technique ideas that you may like to use on your Artful Aprons.
And last but definitely not least, this topic will always remain a place to just talk about Artful Aprons, Clothing and other clever sewing ideas!!! So drop by anytime!
The Swap portion of this topic has ended. I will be mailing out the aprons that I've received by this Friday, October 12th.

Hey Frannie, that's great! I'll add you on as a "Challenge" participant...I know it will be awesome! I plan to show all the pictures in a gallery at my site as well as everyone posting them here. I have my challenges and swaps going on there but still have to finish alot before announcing an opening
I know you are excited about Mary Jane's visit. I know y'all will have a big time and lots of fun! Yes, definitely spread the word about the "Artful Apron" Challenge. That part will ongoing so we can enjoy all the inspirations.
