We had such fun in the first Mini Book swap. Let’s do it again. The Dog Days of Summer (July 3 – August 15) are almost upon us. What a great time to get in out of the heat and humidity and create a little art while enjoying a bit of air conditioning and a nice cold lemonade.

As before your project will be created from a single sheet of paper cleverly folded and cut to produce an 8-page mini book that includes front cover, back cover and six pages of content. What kind of content you ask? Well, let’s be inspired by the Dog Days of Summer . . . ideas for dealing with the heat and humidity, favorite summer activities, how our doggies spend their days, hot weather recipes, vacation stories and pictures, best cooling tips, beauty and the summer beast, jokes & cartoons, collage or rubber stamping, favorite quotes, etc . . . you get the idea . . . anything actually that tickles your fancy at this time of year. Once you have created your book, you will save it as a PDF or jpg file and email it to everyone on our mini book swap list. Last time we each received around 15+ booklets – too cool.

When you sign up, I will send to your private email address full instructions for making a one-page mini book, as well as links to some great free sites for ideas and samples. And the best part is no postage, nothing to buy, no tucks to find, no cost, no delivery woes . . . how can so many “no’s” add up to such a big “yes” of fun?

• Sign up for this swap by July 3
• Mailing list (email addresses) will be sent by July 5
• Publish your mini no later than August 15

Happy creating,
jean

I know, I really feel for you guys right now. Last week we had several days between rains and the skies were really hazy. We think some remnants of that smoke has made it this far!! I can’t imagine what it’s like there.

Just delightful Wanda. Thanks so much for playing. Girlfriend who lives in South Carolina tells me you are getting monsoons there. Sure wish you could send some rain our way to clear out the smoke and help with the drought. The west is burning up out here.

Ladies I have emailed my book to everyone, but wanted to let you know that because of serious computer problems, I couldn’t scan, so I just took a picture of it. It will be a little skewed and you may have to trim a little. Thanks for understanding!!

No prob Wanda Sue . . . after all we are in the middle of the dreaded Dog Days of Summer. Not nice here in northern Idaho this year. Too hot and too much smoke from fires in surrounding areas. YUK!! I swear, I am ready for snow.

Jean I am so thankful you gave us until August 15 to publish! We are having technical difficulties at my house.
Since we have both retired, we hardly use the desktop anymore, so having to go through many updates and
other issues. Hopefully it won't be much longer.

Well here it is. I think I need to go back to kindergarten to learn how to fold and cut.
This probably seems like an odd topic for the Dog Days. I love summer. I think it's the best time to see what's growing well in the vegetable garden and the flower garden. And the best time to sit in the air conditioning with a cold drink and plan for next year.

Do you toss and turn and have trouble getting to sleep when it's too hot? Try wrapping one of those reusable ice packs that you keep in the freezer for emergency sprains and such in a hand towel and place it in your bed where your feet rest -- instant cooling and you just might drop right off to sleep -- I do.

It happened again . . . remember a while back when we were doing the Scrap Happy swap and lo, MaryJane's Farmhouse magazine had a delightful article on neat stuff to make from scraps. . . well yesterday once again I open a new issue of the magazinee only to find an article corresponding or complementing our Dog Days swap. How cool is that. Check out the informative article on page 15, "About Those Dog Days". . . and MJ's Whipped Feta recipe on page 50 is to die for. . . yummo!

And, Dianna, I SO love yours !!!! Got some watermelon and kiwi yesterday and am about to go blend up some slushy stuff to make your popsicles. Yum.

My very favorite staying cool tip has to be wearing cool ties. Oh yes, indeed. And I have sent the pattern to my Dog Day swappers . . . stay cool . . .
