*******************************************************************
I've been tinkering with wooden blocks recently, trying to fit in some therapeutic craft time in between lifes caos these days... and then a friend of mine sent me the most beautiful wooden block she created with a very special message on it... which made me think, not only do creative kindred spirts think alike... but, perhaps a wooden block swap would be fun! You see the wooden blocks at the stores with different quotes and such... everyone seems to love them! So, for this swap, lets create and swap a altered wood block (feel free to raid the hubs scrap wood pile, home depot and lowes often have a free scrap wood bin as well, think 2x4 / 2x6 cut into 3-6 inch blocks, hopefully you get the idea - you can paint it, stain it, add a quote, phrase, picture, create a picture frame with it, alter it how ever you would like!
Sign ups through June 19th.
Mail out by June 26th.
One partner each.

Posted - Jul 11 2020 : 07:39:03 AM Lol, Amy, yes, I can relate!! My 15 yr old doesnt hold the same amount of excitement as she did when 4, 6, 8 even 10! But I STILL DO!! One day they will return to that childlike awe and excitement of nature. My grown son is a prime example with his new daughter! So you are great! I share a love of nature nugget collections also! A shelf, a drawer, a box....all hold my love for nature! So high five or fist bump Amy! You go girl!! Thank you again....really love it

Posted - Jul 11 2020 : 07:32:56 AM Hi, Dianna, Good to hear from you! Thank you for your kind words! I wish you the best of luck with your kitty emergencies; those are no fun at all... hope things are going better now. My thoughts are with you and your felines. :-) Gosh, I'm so glad you like my wood creation! Can you tell I'm a homeschooling mom who misses doing lots of nature art and crafts now that my kiddo is 13? (Sure, we still do nature A & C sometimes, but hunting for the perfect branch or stone or colored leaf is just, um, different with a teenager than with a preschooler, ya know?) I had a good time making it-- once I realized I don't yet have the breadth and depth of knowledge to do something like handcarving a small bowl or spoon or picture frame... some day! But I do love scavenging for goodies that can become found-objects-art, and my lack of woodworking skills turned the project into a fun romp around a storage barn on my parents' farm, where I also found a couple really old cast iron cast-offs: the fork part of a pitchfork that I'm now using as a baby trellis, and a huge railroad tie that no doubt will eventually let me know its new purpose. ;-) Everywhere I go, I'm always collecting cool rocks and branches and sea glass and little bits of nature that cry out, "take me home!" so it was really fun to make art for you from aesthetically pleasing little bits of nature. (Just picking the right stones was like a meditation exercise for me!) Take care and keep in touch! All the best! -Amy

Posted - Jul 02 2020 : 3:12:22 PM Hi, Maddie, Wow! the wooden block you sent me is SO CUTE! The bright turquoise color is so cheerful and goes with all my decor, and I love all the glitter and the button embellishments, too! I just love the mixed media look, and the texture and collage-y feel of your creation. I took some pics, but don't have any way to upload them right now... I should be able to within a few days, but if you have a pic you can share so others can see your handiwork, that works, too! And of course, thank you so much for the other goodies you enclosed-- sparkly bracelets, cute napkin, and tea. That was so thoughtful of you. Thanks again!!! Amy

Posted - Jul 01 2020 : 1:58:16 PM Hi, Dianna, Thanks for emailing me your address. I mailed out your wood block on Monday. I hope it gets there okay. Let me know if the wood glue held. It looked pretty strong but then again, I didn't roughhouse with it to test it. Fingers crossed! Amy
