*******************************************************************
I've been tinkering with wooden blocks recently, trying to fit in some therapeutic craft time in between lifes caos these days... and then a friend of mine sent me the most beautiful wooden block she created with a very special message on it... which made me think, not only do creative kindred spirts think alike... but, perhaps a wooden block swap would be fun! You see the wooden blocks at the stores with different quotes and such... everyone seems to love them! So, for this swap, lets create and swap a altered wood block (feel free to raid the hubs scrap wood pile, home depot and lowes often have a free scrap wood bin as well, think 2x4 / 2x6 cut into 3-6 inch blocks, hopefully you get the idea - you can paint it, stain it, add a quote, phrase, picture, create a picture frame with it, alter it how ever you would like!
Sign ups through June 19th.
Mail out by June 26th.
One partner each.

I love wood. I think I have some saved, if my husband did not raid my bins for fuel for the wood stove when the firewood got rained on. I'll find some...So count me in.

Hi, all, I've always been interested in working with wood, but have not yet attempted it. But I think I'm ready to jump in! So, yes, please! However, I just wonder, where else can I get small pieces of nice quality wood? I've never seen scrap wood at my local Home Depot. Do you all have any other suggestions? I would love to find some nice scrap hard wood. Worst case scenario, I have a beautiful driftwood collection that I can raid a piece from... but if you all have any other ideas on ways to score free nice quality wood pieces, please let me know! Thanks! -Amy |

How about new construction sites? I know the guys would be happy to share a block of wood or more with you, usually! Also lowes or Home Fepot might have some scraps they could give you. If not I'll send you a couple. Lord knows we've got a ton. :)

Amy, drive around town...yes like Dianna said stop where you see men at work...constructing a new home, adding a carport, remodeling, building apartments, all are great places to find scraps of pine lumber. However if you desire hardwood...check out your local cabinet shop! My son builds new homes, and when they hit a lull with that there are lots of remodeling jobs waiting in the wings. If you do not want to deal with the men...( In cities the crews are often Non English Speaking)...just wait until they are finished and gone for the day. Know that all small scrap lumber will eventually go to the local dump. Or somewhere to be disposed of. Think of it this way...you are helping them clean up! He does not build the cabinets, he had a guy who retired. So then he had to go to a nearby town to find a cabinet man, who was willing to build custom cabinets, and then bring them to the site and install them. He has been very busy!

All great ideas, ladies! Creativity is one of a farmgirls best characteristics! (Our local home depot and lowes keeps their scraps right behind their large wood cutter back of the lumber dept).
Kelly and Amy, I have you down! Yay!
