Posted - Feb 16 2017 : 7:00:07 PM NOTE: 10"-squares are known as layer cake squares in the quilting world.
This swap involves no sewing (your project is determined by what you want to make with your fabric squares) - only buying fabric and cutting it into 10" squares. Please buy 100% cotton quilting fabric and cut off both selvage edges before cutting squares so there is NO selvage in the 10" squares. (NOTE: The selvages are the two tightly woven edges of the fabric - opposite the folded edge.)
This swap is for 10" squares of Travel-themed Fabrics. Each person who signs up will send two different 10" squares of travel-related fabrics to each of the farm girls who sign up. A yard of fabric will make 12 squares (with a little left over), so the amount of fabric you will need to purchase will depend on how many sign up. Please join in - all are welcome.
Signups begin today: February 16 Signups end: Noon, March 3 Mail out by: March 17
If you have not yet participated in one of these 10"-square fabric swaps, when you sign up by posting in this thread please immediately send me your name/address/phone. The name/address is so I can send a complete list to each farm girl for mailing out to everyone; the phone number is only in case I need to contact you for any reason.
We have been enjoying these swaps and it is fun seeing all the different fabrics we choose. I hope you will join us.
NOTE: When you join in, please "Subscribe" to this topic so that you will receive all communication regarding the topic. And we all like to hear from you when you send out fabric and when you receive fabric. And please post pics of what you make in the Showcase thread. You can go to the "Showcase" thread for using this link. http://maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=73817

Posted - Mar 31 2017 : 5:50:55 PM I will try photos, but first I must finish each one. I am thinking of using Wade 's old blue Jean legs as the backing...just two layers.??? Haven't really decided. When he was in high school he came home from an ag trip with a cover made from a printed sheet and backed with recycled denim pieces. I tried to return it but no one claimed it. So it was mine for many years. It washed beautifully. Great outdoor pallet for little ones.

Posted - Mar 31 2017 : 2:52:42 PM I received Terri's fabrics yesterday. I love it - Ireland, old cars, and campers! Super quilt in store for all of us.
Hint: Go to youtube and search for Missouri Star Quilt Company tutorials. There are lots of quilts using 10" squares that would be wonderful and easy for these squares.

Posted - Mar 24 2017 : 12:25:03 PM Went in to town to post office this morning, had mail from Jana Emhart ( campers and campgrounds, love it!) and Marti Seeley with the lovely Paris theme ( everyone should visit there at least once!) The only two I have not yet received are Denise Christiansen and Terri Quinn, but ours is a very small post office and may have not arrived there yet. Will check again Monday. Can you believe it, no duplicates! Great " planning by osmosis," ladies!

Posted - Mar 17 2017 : 6:02:53 PM That is great Marti, your hubby is interested in your fabrics. I also received fabrics from Darlene and Betty. Very neat adventures. Then I also received Rebecca Whites squares. Hadlee and her mom went to the zoo in Fort Worth today, with friends. So Baylee and I went to lunch and she got to open the envelopes, and oooh and aaah over them. I made a second set of curtains for her this afternoon. The first ones were for the window in her door, this set goes over an open space under the cabinet and sink in her tee-tiny bity kitchen space. THANK YOU LADIES, I LOVE ALL THE FABRICS.
