I am starting this thread so people can showcase quilts, table runners, wall hangings, and any other projects they have made with the squares they receive from the almost-monthly 10" squares swaps (AKA Layer Cakes in the quilting world) that I host under the Farmgirl Swaps category. We have been having a great time increasing our variety of stash fabrics with these swaps. Look interesting? Check us out!

Here is the quilt top I made using the Christmas squares, adding a few of my own stash and double sashing. All it needs is a border and then it can be quilted.

Nice top. It will be interesting to see everyone's creativeness. Always good to learn new ideas. I have to learn to post pictures. I was going through my quilt blocks from my quilt block swaps I hosted before I got breast cancer and I found some lovely blocks from you. I never got to finish anything so now I will be able to do that. Yippee!

Yes there are 2. A patriotic star block and a pinwheel block. I love all my blocks from everyone. Now I need to get sewing. My cataracts are both done now and I can see again. LOL!

Mecca Lou, that is a nice quilt. Very pretty. Linda's squares just pop. The darker sashing is neat.

Here are the 10" squares stitched together. I still need to add a border and backing. Nothing fancy, I am in a time crunch to finish up now. These will go to Cooks with Hadlee and her mom. I love the little boy squares, Don't you know some little guy will enjoy looking for all of the colorful boy things on his little quilt. Thank you all for making it so unique.

Here's a top (probably a tablecloth) I made with HALF of my floral swap squares.

All these are so inspiring! I got all my swap blocks out and have them pressed waiting for a day where I can sit and sew them up. Love the patterns!

Here are my boy squares. I chose to cut them into triangles and make pinwheels. I have enough to make a nap quilt for both my grandsons:)
Not finished yet. I think I'll use a dark fabric as the lattice between the blocks

I love those blocks, Christy! Thanks for posting.

I think a dark sashing will look great with those pinwheels.

Did you put 10" white squares with each 10" square to make 2 half-square triangles? That's a great idea. I thought about that for one of my sets - not sure which. LOL!

Yes "sashing". I forgot the word lol
I did use a light fabric I had in my pile to go with.

I'm making a nine patch variation with the girl fabrics for my 2 granddaughters. I'll be using white or cream in theirs. Kaitlin is almost 10 and loves black, pink and paris so I'll probably use black and pink for her sashing and/or border.

Evelyn (Evie) is just 3 months old so hers will be the more whimsical girl fabrics with lavender and green as her sashing and/or border. Her mommy just knew she'd be a lavender girl and she looks lovely in it.

Well, forget about the 9 patch for this one. I used some of the girl fabric and some of the florals to make my
10 year old granddaughter a small quilt. Not done yet. I'm happy with it.
I like to embroider the labels for the back.

I framed a Fall panel (I love the old trucks!) with some of the Fall 10" squares. I cut 8 squares in half (paying attention to the direction they would be on the panel) and one square in quarters for the corners.
(
I used blocks that had pumpkins, apples, trucks, and leaves so that the items in the border fabrics complemented the panel.

There are many ways to use panels, and some are trickier than others depending on the method used. This wall hanging uses the entire panel, yet still had issues with fitting the blocks in - that's why I used a coping strip around the panel to get the size correct for the squares. I have a Christmas panel quilt I made that is cut in pieces and sashed (framed) so it looks like you are looking out a window. I've done several panels that way, too.
