Posted - Oct 02 2016 : 1:06:49 PM Well, the time has come for our 2nd annual Christmas 10"-square Fabric Swap (Known as layer cake squares, in the quilting world). You can never have enough Christmas fabrics (or Christmas quilts, I sometimes think).
This swap involves no sewing (your project is determined by what you want to make with your fabric squares) - only buying fabric and cutting it into 10" squares. Please buy 100% cotton quilting fabric and cut off both selvage edges before cutting squares so there is NO selvage in the 10" squares. (NOTE: The selvages are the two tightly woven edges of the fabric - opposite the folded edge.)
This swap is for 10" squares of Christmas-themed Fabrics. Each person who signs up will send 2 different 10" squares of Christmas-themed fabric to each of the other farm girls who sign up. A yard of fabric will make 12 squares (with a little left over), so the amount of fabric you will need to purchase will depend on how many sign up. Please join in - all are welcome.
Signups begin today: October 2 Signups end: Noon, October 19 Mail out by: October 26
NOTE: Please mail out PROMPTLY so that Christmas gifts, table runners, banners, or other items can be completed in time to send or decorate for the holidays. These dates are early so that you will have plenty of tie to be creative. And please post pics of what you make.
If you have not yet participated in one of these 10"-square fabric swaps, when you sign up by posting in this thread, please immediately send me your name/address/phone. The name/address is so I can send a complete list to each farm girl for mailing out to everyone; the phone number is only in case I need to contact you for any reason.
We have been enjoying these swaps and it is fun seeing all the different fabrics we choose. I hope you will join us.
NOTE: When you join in, please "Subscribe" to this topic so that you will receive all communication regarding the topic. And we all like to hear from you when you send out fabric and when you receive fabric.
You can go to the "Showcase" thread for projects made with these 10" squares to post what you make and see what others have made using our themed squares. http://maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=73817

Posted - May 08 2017 : 11:49:24 AM I have put together the wonky Christmas stars I made with fabrics from this swap. Here is the top of the Christmas bed runner I made with added sashing. The sashing is a deep red with tiny gold dots in it.

Posted - Jan 04 2017 : 6:41:21 PM I hope you are feeling better, Daizy, and feel up to making something nice for yourself with the Christmas squares. There are a lot of patterns out there that can use the 10" squares with sashings to make something easy and special. Have fun!

Posted - Jan 04 2017 : 6:37:33 PM Hay there.
You all have an envelope in the mail on its way to you with your Christmas squares, finally. Whoo hoo !!! You can get a head start on next years décor. I am so ashamed. But I hope ya'll like the fabrics. I have really enjoyed receiving all of yours. I had grand plans for working them into a few table runners for gifts, but, alas, sickness got ahold of me and none of those plans happened. I will work with your fabrics thru the year and create something special for ME. And I will cherish all the Farm Girl love that was sent with the squares. Bless you all....sending many hugs.

Posted - Dec 23 2016 : 05:29:06 AM Hay there,
I want to thank Mz Linda and Mz Marilyn for checking in on me. I had not been well and my helper came and straighten up for me which meant putting things away and straightening up as I lay in the bed. My envelopes where put in my sewing studio, as I call it, and therefore my re-ordered fabric didn't get cut and added and mailed. Once she put it all away it became "out of sight- out of mind" as I recuperated. I know...I know...that's a really lame excuse but thanks to a few emails to check on me I have realized my failure to complete this swap. I am going to be cutting out the re-ordered fabric the next few days and fulfilling my obligations to each of you. I am much better but since the swaps where "put away" then I totally forgot and I feel terrible about this. Again, I am so very sorry. Thanks for checking on me, Mz Linda and Mz Marilyn. Again, I am very sorry. Hugs.
