Posted - Jul 13 2016 : 6:50:39 PM If you haven't yet participated in one of my 10" square fabric swaps, maybe now is the time to join us. We are having a lot of fun getting 10" fabric squares in the mail from our farmgirl friends. We are all farmgirls at heart, even if we currently only plant in flower pots. Our theme for this month is "Kitchen fabrics" - visualize your kitchen and let's see what we can find.
This swap involves no sewing (your project is determined by what you want to make with your fabric squares) - only buying fabric and cutting it into 10" squares. Please cut off all selvages before cutting so there is NO selvage in the 10" squares. (NOTE: The selvages are the two tightly woven edges of the fabric - opposite the folded edge.)
This is a new swap for 10" squares of Kitchen-themed Fabrics. Each person who signs up will receive 2 different 10" squares of Kitchen-themed fabric from each of the other farm girls who sign up. A yard of fabric will make 12 squares, so the amount of fabric you will need to purchase will depend on how many sign up. We had a super group of 23 swappers last swap, our largest group yet. Please join in - all are welcome.
Signups begin today: July 13 Signups end: Noon, July 27 Mail out by: August 10
If you have not yet participated in one of my 10" fabric swaps, when you sign up by posting in this thread, please immediately send me your name/address/phone. The name/address is so I can send a complete list to each swapper; the phone number is only in case I need to contact you for any reason.
We have been enjoying these swaps and it is fun seeing all the different fabrics we choose. I hope you will join us.
NOTE: When you do join in, please "Subscribe" to this topic so that you will receive all communication regarding the topic. And we all like to hear from you when you send out fabric and when you receive fabric.
You can go to the "Showcase" thread for projects made with these 10" squares to post what you make and see what others have made using our themed squares. http://maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=73817

Posted - Sep 02 2016 : 5:51:39 PM Glad you like them! I am thinking a table runner or something like that along with some pot holders with my squares. I have sewn gloves across like that for my sil who lost an index finger in a job accident. He runs a driller for building highway columns. Hubby works in oilfield and has come home before with his hand in a glove thinking his finger was cut and w e were blessed it was just the top of his knuckle. His finger probably would not have been there had it not been for the glove.

Betty, I received your cute kitchen themed fabric squares today, and the tag you made. Thank you so much. I am glad you and your hubby are on the mend. My daddy was missing his pinkie and ring finger from his right hand. He had a stand of pipe fall and crush his hand as a young man, before he met my mother. 1930s. My jobs were to polish and shine his shoes and fix his gloves. Oil field drillers wore white stiff cotton gloves with an outing lining. I had to sew back and forth across the side of each right glove, then cut away the floppy finger part. A box of a dozen pair every two weeks. And that was before zig zag was added to sewing machines.

Posted - Sep 02 2016 : 09:14:33 AM Hello! Farm Sisters! I am mending well. Will have a scar and discolored area where the snake bit. Not two days after that happened my hubby got his hand caught in a generator fan. Not a pretty site. My tall big guy just about passed out. It got the first and last finger good and nipped the two middle ones. No stitching could be done as it was sliced. He is mending well and his fingers will be sensitive for awhile. All my fabrics have been mailed out and you all should receive them shortly!

Posted - Aug 27 2016 : 4:27:48 PM Thanks so much for taking time to get this together for crazy old me.
Now here's my problem...I got an envelope from Albuquerque with no name--black retro appliances & light yellow utensils...and an envelope from C Martin(?) with chickens & chickens...{love those}
My problem was mostly because I didn't keep the email you sent with all the addresses on it, so I couldn't check back later.
And...I'm sorry..I haven't been keeping up with the group, so I just didn't know what was happening. I hope everybody is OK & can forgive me.
Hugs and Squishies!!
