I participated on several swaps on swap-bot and have never had a problem so far. I also have an anti-virus program that updates daily, so that may be why I haven't seen anything.
Thanks for the heads-up, though.

Yikes! thanks for the warning! I haven't had any problems when I've been to their site, so far. I participated in a couple of email swaps, but I find their website difficult to navigate and trying to figure out who is who on the rating thing is confusing. So think I'll stick to just swaps here at Mary Janes.

Farmgirls, PLEASE be sure you have a good anti-virus software on your computer that is kept up to date if you are using Swap-bot! Every time I have logged on I've started catching trojans and malware in my anti-virus programs right away. In the past two weeks I have had both my home and work computers freeze up while I was logged into Swap-bot. Fortunately my computer technician was able to fix everything both times. He looked in the log files on both computers and was able to determine that the suspicious files are coming in through the connection to Swap-bot. He sent some information about the problem to Swap-bot but they haven't responded yet. To stay on the safe side I don't think I will be playing there anymore. Yikes!

I think you have to wait until you are assigned a partner, then you will get their email address.
Has anyone seen the thread on there about the swapper who faked her own death to get out of sending? That is so sad.

Hey Ruby be sure to sign up for the Type 3 swaps in order for them to count against your newbie status :) Like Phyllis suggested, the postcard and greeting card swaps would work great too, the email ones don't count if you want to sign up for crafting or mailing ones :)

Try the postcard and greeting card swaps. Almost all of them allow newbies. That's where I got started. I already have three ratings.

I'm disappointed that so many of the swap-bot swaps don't allow newbies with no feedback ratings. Luckily I found several easy ones that did though! They are all done by e-mail, just answering questions about yourself or those 'what would you do' type of questions. I'm hoping doing those will help get me some feedback ratings so I can participate in other swaps {laughing}

What do you think so far? I looked at some profiles, and it is intimidating when your partner has a lot of dislikes.
I like swapping on here better, because the rest of the forum comments allow us to get to know each other better.
I do like how there are so many ATC swaps on craftster, where you only send one ATC.

Can you give me goddess powers (I think one must be assigned an officer in order to host swaps within a group anyway) and I will host a simple Thanksgiving card swap on Swap-bot for those who wish to sign up and get familiar with swapping there and how the rating system works. You can take those powers away once you have reached your five swaps if you wish. If you wish to wait until you can host, not a problem. Just let me know.

I don't know what I was thinking..more identity theft than terrorist, I guess. I have no problem with international mail and actually ENJOY getting mail from foreign countries. The PO Box thing just seemed strange to me. Thanks for all your replies. I think I'll skip the PO box when I actually get around to joining. Joey
