Posted - Aug 27 2010 : 9:00:40 PM Those are soooo beautiful. Red is my favorite color too. i just started quilting last year and am hooked already. not hugely skilled yet, but getting there. i'm going to the Fair in Puyallup Washington in a couple of weeks then to the State fair of Texas when i go home after that. my favorite part of "country" fairs is looking at all those gorgeous quilts. thanks for the inspiration.

Posted - Aug 23 2010 : 1:47:58 PM Delightful! I love the creativity they reflect. Even with the same basics, red and white blocks, the blocks are uniqe and the way they are put together is different. Congratualtions on a wonderful job. Isn't it great to have a finished treasure to show where your time went! Susan

Posted - Aug 22 2010 : 04:23:43 AM Sorry again I was looking at my paper that I have not corrected instead of the blocks.... Celticheart made the maverick star. Her name is on the block. Oh I need to get a cup of coffee.. the dane puppy got us up early this morning. By the way she has not learned sewing manners yet. I remember our first dane would love to lay on the blocks when I had them on the floor - my design wall. She would be very careful so not to mess them up. This one snatches the blocks and runs. We are working on our sewing manners. Barbara

Posted - Aug 22 2010 : 04:05:37 AM Antoinette I believe that other star is simplefancies - maverick star. She has a sticker with her name on the block is that the one? If you are talking about another one let us know. I'm with you I love to see all the different blocks. Perhaps we need to start including block instructions? So what are your plans for the stars? Barbara

Posted - Aug 21 2010 : 8:30:53 PM LOL - I think the later one was mine as well....is it the asymmetrical star? That is taken from a quilt called Stars and Scraps Forever by Judith Hughes Marte of Around The Block Quilt Designs. The pattern appears in a book I got at my public library called Fast, Fun & Fabulous Quilts, edited by Suzanne Nelson. I love the way she set the blocks and she used the same coloring we did. My dad loves that color scheme and I am thinking of making him a quilt with just those stars....

Posted - Aug 21 2010 : 7:26:59 PM Thanks ladies, I have my sister's quilt and there was no name on that particular block. Thanks Catherine for identifying it for Debbie. Now can you ladies help me. Barbara on the scrappy star blocks we made could you tell me who did the scrappy star in the multi colors and the star that was done in blends of orange with blue borders? I would like to have the pattern for those. |

Posted - Aug 21 2010 : 4:27:11 PM Barbara's right, that's my block and it is made of all 1/2 square triangles. Should be rather easy to just copy I think, without an actual pattern. The particular color arrangement is called "Annie's Choice" in the Better Homes & Gardens book "501 Quilt Blocks." My middle name is Annie and some folk still call me that sometimes....so it just sort of fit lol.

Posted - Aug 21 2010 : 11:42:46 AM Debbie, urban chickie made that block. It is just 1/2 square triangles set in a 16 patch block. Does that sound right 16 patch block? As apposed to a 9 patch block. Hope that helps, Barbara

Posted - Aug 21 2010 : 09:22:44 AM Hi Debbie, I am sorry to say I don't know the name of it. My sister currently has my quilt when she gets it back to me I will check whose name is signed on that one so you can contact her and find out.
