What would you ladies think about a secret seed swap?

I'm thinking, place a couple seeds in an envelope (not too obvious like poppy seeds LOL) with growing instructions (light, watering, timing and such) and we can exchange them and plant them and see what we get. Obviously some of our more experienced gardeners out there could probably identify the crop by the seed, but some of us (like me) probably wouldn't. You can do veggies or flowers or whatever you like. Make it interesting. What do you think? Fun?

OK. Just updating the original post so everyone who checks out this swap doesn't have to search through all of the other posts to find he details. Here's how this swap is going to roll out.
Sign ups will run through Friday (April 9). On Saturday morning the swap will be officially closed for sign ups and I will post partners soon after. Then you will be responsible for contacting your partner ( if they haven't contacted you already) to exchange addresses. Then, let's make sure we get our seeds sent out by next weekend (17th-ish) so that we can get these seeds planted right away and watch our surprises grow!

Make sure that if you are allergic to any types of plants/flowers that you post it in this thread so I can make your partner aware of it. Or if you don't want veggies or a specific type of plant, just say so. When you send your seeds out, please give as detailed instructions as you can without giving away your seed's identity. Include everything the plant likes to grow (sunlight, water, temperature, fertlizers, containers, etc. )

I'm really excited about this swap! I think it will be fun!

PLEASE BE SURE TO PROTECT YOUR SEEDS (bubble wrap works great) and don't just stick them in an envelope alone. Thanks for that reminder Kristin! Good thinking! Also, be sure to include in your information whether the seed is a veggie/flower/whatever.

Oh...and Channah...have you planted your seeds yet? I hope they're working out OK. I planted the same seeds and mine aren't germinating for some reason :( I think I'm going to give them another try outside as soon as the last frost date is passed :)

I did get my seeds Channah! I'm still trying to find the perfect place to scatter them. :) I thought I had posted that I got them, but I think I'm remembering that I said something in the "To Do List" thread, but not here...LOL...sorry. Didn't mean to make you worry :)

Got my seeds today in a gorgeous hot pink envelope! I can't wait to see what they are. They little packets they are in say both kinds get tall and will need to be trellised, and they produce something edible. I haven't opened the little packets to look at the seed because I don't want them to fall out and get lost before I can plant them. I got the wood for my garden boxes yesterday, so hopefully they will get built this weekend and I can get my garden started finally. At least it's warmed up again. But of course we can't have moderation, so it's gone from chilly to hot!

Happy May Day!

Robin(OneCraftyBugger),
The seeds got here last week before I mailed yours out. When things dry out a little bit the girls and I are looking forward to getting them in the ground. I mailed yours a week ago Saturday. If you haven't gotten them yet, you should soon. Thanks for the fun swap!

Blessings,

That's ok Channah! Sorry you are heartbroken... I will go check out barnyard.

I cant wait for the ones I sent you to pop up. I went on a long walk this morning and saw this particular item that I sent you just growing wild and beautifully on a road side! :)

Hi Siobhan and Jamie, I am so sorry but I lost the seeds and just now found them. I will try and mail them soon. Right now I am a little heart broken ( you can read why in the barnyard section) and well you know.
Anyway, hope you can forgive me for being late.
Hugs,
Channah

Karla,
My seeds came today :) . Those are very interesting looking seeds! Are the edible??? :) I can hardly wait to plant them, but it is raining so I suppose I'll have to wait at least until tomorrow. Thanks so much!
Blessings,

I know............I prayed it once about 21 years ago & got my son 9 months later.........let's just put it this way he was a busy boy! He was diagnosed with ADHD in 1st grade. But he is 21 now so he survived! He still hasn't decided what he wants to be when he grows up however!

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Karla,

I said BE patient ... not pray for patience, that's a dangerous prayer! The Lord will answer and will give you soooo many practice sessions ... :) .
It is fun (the seed swap, not developing patience ... though mine isn't very well developed either)!
Blessings,
Catherine :)
