Posted - Jun 02 2010 : 10:36:25 AM Ann Bernadette, I emailed you privately because I wanted to be sure you read it, but those comments were NOT addressed toward you. Don't feel bad hon!! I wish I was there to give you a big hug and force feel you chocolate, my personal answer to woe LOL.
While the original comment made was indeed hurtful to many, I think it has been addressed with appropriate tact (indeed more than I could personally muster, which is why I did not address it because I know my hot-headedness isn't appropriate for online lol) but we need to move on and perhaps learn from it. The internet is so hard to communicate sometimes, with no body language or ability to immediately rectify when necessary. We do so much of that in real life without realizing it, but it's impossible when we all read these comments at different times and in different surroundings, etc. While the poster has every right to feel however she feels, I do not think from her other activity on this forum that she intended to be or even realized how hurtful she was, and I am sure all have learned to think a bit more before publicly posting something like that. All swapping I have ever seen online is predicated on many different levels of expertise, challenge, and ability and comes with an expected range that not everyone realizes until they participate. Yes, some will be disappointed at times but that is the nature of it all. Most will be delighted always with whatever honest attempts are made, and those are the ones that return time after time. I love all you guys even though I have only recently joined your ranks, and would hate for any unpleasantness to fester. So lets ALL have some chocolate roflol, send out *BIG HUG* vibes to each other, and move on. We have crafting to do!!!!

Posted - Jun 02 2010 : 09:42:22 AM After reading some of these posts I have a huge sad feeling in the pit of my stomach. I was not aware that any of my posts were hurtful and I am sorry if I at all offended anyone in anyway. That was certainly not my intent. I very much enjoyed the last swap and put a lot of love into my blocks I shared w/ the group and do not recall being rude and hurtful. I do ask for your forgiveness and will withdraw from the group, as this form of friendship may not be for me due to the risk of misinterpretation of posts. Good luck to all the quilters, it is a lovely pastime and skill.

I too, am thankful for ALL the beautiful blocks I recieved, as soon as I decide on sashing I will proudly display the finished quilt on the bak of my couch and I promise it will get used and loved for its uniqueness and warmth on a cold day.

Posted - Jun 01 2010 : 07:30:49 AM Anna, Wow.. really? Those of us who are not "professional" quilters apologize for insulting you. At some point in your quilting career you made a 4 patch and were very pleased with yourself and by the way handmade does not mean perfect every time. I agree with Heather, you were hurtful and rude. I am sure in your haste to point out your dissapointment you have left several sisters with a very sour taste in their mouths and have accomplished the exact oppisite of what MJF was trying to create. Shame on you.

Posted - Jun 01 2010 : 07:24:07 AM Check out the Forum Thread titled "Red quilt squares picture". This is a quilt top contructed from the first group of red and white block swappers. Not all blocks were perfect but were still used by a creative quilter. She adapted and used all FG sisiter blocks and I think it came out lovely! The charm of a group quilt is the diversity of blocks/participants. Making do and making the most of what you have is a true skill.
I would like to Thank everyone once again for the blocks I recieved. I am proud to have them and use them in my next quilt.

Posted - Jun 01 2010 : 06:49:21 AM Anna, This swap was open to all, that means all different levels of quilting abilities. Correct me if I'm wrong but MJF Farmgirls should be kind and nurturing. Your words were hurtful to those who tried to the best of thier ability. Perhaps a quick thank you and a personal (to yourself) note that you wouldnt participate would have been more appropiate. Sorry your dissapointed, better luck next time.

Posted - May 31 2010 : 10:17:22 AM I've been out of town - just arrived home to find the quilt blocks in the mail...I was soo excited; after opening the envelope, I am soo disappointed! I received 8 blocks from others and 3 of my own - instructions state "11 to swap and one to keep". Of the 8, 4 (I won't mention names) are not worthy of working into a quilt (points are supposed to match! and a 4 patch, really?) I expected more of MJF gals - I guess my standards are just too high. Won't do this again!!! Thank you to the 4 beautiful, well-made block...I appreciate your quality!

Posted - May 22 2010 : 8:48:38 PM Ah, I got my blocks today and they are all so pretty!!! They are all laid out on my bed, I keep rearranging them to see how I want to assemble them LOL. My couch is a futon, and I learned years ago that a fitted sheet is way cheaper than a futon cover, and fits just as well. They also make for quick and easy new decor options! The sheet on there right now is red gingham and I think the finished quilt would be perfect hanging over the bed on the wall.....so I might do that but I sort of want to make a bed quilt too....decisions, decisions!
Barbara, thank you so much for hosting this swap! And thank you for the lovely farmgirl block, she's adorable!

Posted - May 22 2010 : 10:06:08 AM Primative colors are country colors, Thimbleberry fabrics, muted reds and blues, civil war reproduction prints, Little Quilts (shop in Atlanta) colors, homespuns, Americana type fabrics..... hope this helps? You can google primative fabrics under images and then you can see all different kinds of fabrics. Remember if everyone makes scrappy then all of our blocks will go together. What do you thing? Posted - May 21 2010 : 6:30:54 PM Glad to hear that everyone likes their blocks:) I found the fabric in Paducha during the quilt show. It was funny I did not realize that it was a Mary Jane Farms print until after I made the purchase. Vi I hope that your quilt group likes the blocks as much as mine did!! Have fun putting it together. I will keep in mind everyone that is interested for our next swap. I'm thinking stars, primative scrappy fabric colors, and size 10 inches. How does that sound? Barbara

Thank you again for all your hard work. I like all the blocks - thank you Farmgirls. Barb - I love the farmgirl block. I think I might use that on aa label on the back and put every ones names and states. I have not thought what I am going to use - but I think I will try to get it done so I can take for "Show and Tell" to my Thimble berries Club" next month.
If you have another block exchange - count me in.

Posted - May 20 2010 : 6:02:48 PM Sorry to say but we had two sisters drop out from the swap. That is why everyone received their blocks back. Glad to hear that three of you have received your blocks. I took my blocks to my quild luncheon - I was so proud of all of you!! I explained to everyone how the blocks came from all over the US. I hope that everyone liked the extra farmgirl fabric. I tried to find it in red but all they had was the green. If someone posts pictures let us know. We have a young quilter from Japan in our group, I think that she was the most impressed regarding our swap. Thanks again for a great swap. Keep talking about our next swap, Barbara

Girls they are lovely! I can't wait to decide on a sashing color to add to the blocks. Not sure what color yet.
I would love to do the next swap with a fat quarter included. I like the size we just completed.
I do have one question on my red and white squares. I received two of my own back. Was I suppose to?
